Devon County Council (Clifton Road, Exeter) (Waiting Restrictions) Amendment Order 

Devon County Council propose to make this under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce in Newtown, Exeter: No Waiting At Any Time on specified lengths of Chute Street, Clifton Road & Clifton Street; Limited Waiting Mon-Sat 9am-6pm 30 Mins No Return 1 Hour on a specified length of Clifton Road; Limited Waiting Mon-Sat 9am-6pm 2 Hours No Return 4 Hours on a specified length of Chute Street; Residents Parking At Any Time Zone C on specified lengths of Chute Street & Clifton Road; Residents Parking Mon-Fri midnight-9am/3pm-midnight/ Sat-Sun At Any Time Zone C on a specified length of Clifton Road; Disabled Badge Holders Only At Any Time on a specified length of Clifton Road; Loading Only Mon-Fri 9am-3pm on a specified length of Clifton Road. Residents, charity business occupier, supported living, school business, motorcycle, scooter & other vehicles band A permit £35 annually, other vehicles bands B-K 1St permit £35, 2dd £55, 3rd £65; bands L-M 1" permit £35, extra permits £65; virtual visitor £30 per 350 hours allocated in 1 hour sessions, physical daily visitor £30 for 30 (24 hour) permits, annual business permits: 1St £35, 2dd £75, 3rd £150; annual trade permit £45, short stay trade £60 for 20, daily trade permit £5, weekly trade £25; guest house/hotel visitors £30 for 20 permits; annual essential visitor permit £10, care worker permits are free. 

Where appropriate there will be the usual exemptions including those in relation to picking up/setting down passengers, loading/unloading goods & disabled persons vehicles. 

The draft order, order being amended, plan & statement of reasons may be seen at devon.cc/tro. Free bookable computer use is available during the opening hours of Devon Libraries. Documents are also available to view during normal office hours at the address below. Objections & other comments specifying the proposal & the grounds on which they are made must be in writing to the address below or via devon.cc/tro to arrive by 22 October 2026. 

Receipt of submissions may not be acknowledged but those received will be considered. If you make a submission be aware that comments will be anonymised prior to being sent to Highways & Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC) members for consideration or being published on our website. Data may be shared within the Council &with our partner agencies.
