Edge Court - Temporary Footpath Closure due to Electric Cable Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Edge Court, Gilesgate) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of footpath. A 72 metre length of Edge Court, Gilesgate from the rear of No. 125 to the rear of No. 132 to enable electric cable works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure, any alternative diversion for pedestrians will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are required from 8am on Monday 19/10/2026 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 26 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
