Easington Village - Temporary Footpath Closures due to Gas Main Replacement Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Comet Drive, Jupiter Court, Neptune Way and Saturn Close, Easington Village) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of footpath. Comet Drive: A 40 metre length from the front of No. 20 to No. 16; Jupiter Court: A 37 metre length from the side of No. 15 Comet Drive to the front of No. 11 Neptune Way and a 15 metre length to the side of No. 14 and 15 Neptune Way; Neptune Way: An 85 metre length from the front of No. 11 to the side of No. 1 and Saturn Close: A 50 metre length from the front of No. 10 to the front of No. 3 and a 36 metre length to the side of No. 5,6 and 7, to the rear of No. 4. The rolling closure is necessary to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure, any alternative diversions to pedestrian traffic will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are required from 8am on Monday 19/10/2026 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 37 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
