What is happening?

This scheme is made by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Authority (HIWFRA) in accordance with the provisions of the Local Authorities (Members’ Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 and is effective from 1 April 2026 until 31 March 2030. 

1. A Basic Allowance of £7,456.80 per annum shall be paid to each properly appointed Member of HIWFRA (excluding Deputy Members, or Co-opted Members, where appointed). 

2. An allowance of £1,864.32 per annum shall be paid to the Co-opted Independent Member of the Audit and Governance Committee. 

3. A special responsibility allowance (SRA) shall be paid to those Members who hold the offices of special responsibility listed in the table below and the amount of each allowance shall be the amount specified. 

4.
