Notice of Temporary Traffic Regulation Order

Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intend to make an order the effect of which:

RHL Weston Beach Race 2026 various roads, footpaths and footways, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles), (Temporary Prohibition of Foot Passengers), (Temporary No Waiting or Loading Restriction) Order 2026

Date coming Into Force: 26 September 2026

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule 1, to close temporarily to foot passengers the lengths of footpaths specified in Schedule 2, to restrict temporarily the No Waiting or Loading Restrictions specified in Schedule 3. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for public buses at bus stops, for enforcement of the restrictions and for any vehicle with agreed dispensation from North Somerset Council undertaking emergency work.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public and to alleviate traffic congestion consequent upon the RHL Weston Beach Race and the subsequent need to maintain road safety and will become operative on the 26 September 2026 for a maximum period of six months for the road closures, footpath closures and No waiting restrictions or Loading Restrictions. However, the restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the period only as necessitated by the race schedule as per the schedule below. Appropriate traffic signs and cones will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Schedule 1 - Prohibition of Use by Vehicles: Links Road, Uphill from its junction with Berkeley Crescent to its northwestern end, from 8am on Saturday 26 September 2026 to 11.59pm on Thursday 22 October 2026. Broadoak Road for its full extent, from 7am on Saturday 26 September 2026 to 7pm on Thursday 22 October 2026, reasonable access will be allowed for residents. Marine Parade, unadopted section. Schedule 2 - Prohibition of use by Foot Passengers: Footpath AX31/15 from Uphill Road South to its western end, from 8am on Saturday 26 September 2026 to 11.59pm on Thursday 22 October 2026. Beach Lawns Footpaths from Carlton Street to Clarence Road South, all footways around and within the Beach Lawns, from 8am on Saturday 26 September 2026 to 11.59pm on Thursday 22 October 2026.

Schedule 3 - No Waiting or Loading Restriction on both sides of the road between 7am on Friday 16 October 2026 to 9pm on Sunday 18 October 2026: Uphill Road North from its junction with Moorland Road to its junction with Windwhistle Road. Windwhistle Road for its full extent. Bridgwater Road from its junction with Windwhistle Road to the junction with Windwhistle Lane.

However, the closures and restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 22 days in duration.
