What is happening?

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council intends, in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s):

ORDER NO. MCC152642319: The City of Manchester (Princess Street, Cooper Street & Bow Lane, Deansgate Ward)(Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Princess Street from Cooper Street to Clarence Street, on Cooper Street from Kennedy Street to Princess Street & on Bow Lane from Clarence Street to Princess Street. The alternative routes for traffic will be: Kennedy Street, Clarence Street, Princess Street, John Dalton Street, Deansgate, Peter Street, Oxford Street, Portland Street, Nicholas Street, George Street. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate Manchester Town Hall works. It is expected that the works will be in progress from 19th October 2026 to 30th October 2026 between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00. The order shall come into operation on 19th October 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
