NOTICE OF MAKING OF AN ORDER
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
Cambridgeshire County Council has made Concurrent Orders under sections 26 and 118 of the Highways Act 1980 to reorganise public footpaths in Colne, Cambridgeshire.
(Public Footpath No. 12, Colne)
Public Path Creation Order 2026
The above order, made on the 11th of September 2026, under section 26 of the Highways Act 1980, will create a new Public Footpath as described below.
A public footpath that begins at the extent of the public highway on Old Church Lane, at TL 3672 7608 and proceeds north-west for approximately 36m to TL 3669 7610 where the footpath continues in a south-westerly direction for approximately 58m to reach a gate with a gap on its northern side at TL 3664 7608, the footpath continues in a south-westerly direction for approximately 80m to TL 3656 7605 where the footpath continues in a northerly direction for approximately 180m to TL 3651 7621. The footpath continues in a general south-westerly direction approximately 149m to TL 3637 7615 and then continues in a west-north-westerly direction approximately 262m to reach TL 3611 7617. The footpath proceeds along a field edge in a generally north-eastern direction parallel to the Somersham parish boundary for approximately 502m where at TL 3631 7662 the footpath begins to curve around the watercourse, first north-east and then north, for approximately 253m to reach TL 3637 7682, where the footpath crosses the land in a north-easterly direction for approximately 134m to terminate at TL 3648 7690 where it meets Public Footpath No. 2, Colne.
(Public Footpath No. 4 and Public Footpath No. 8, Colne) Public Path Extinguishment Order 2026.
The above order, made on the 11th of September 2026 under section 118 of the Highways Act 1980, will extinguish two public footpaths as described below
Public Footpath No. 4, Colne:
The full width of Public Footpath No. 4, Colne starting to the east of the old churchyard at TL 3669 7611 and proceeding in a north-north-west direction for approximately 68m to reach TL 3668 7617 where the route proceeds generally north-west for approximately 133m, reaching TL 3658 7624, then continues in a south-westerly direction before curving around the drain for approximately 84m to reach TL 3650 7623. The footpath then continues in a north-westerly direction for approximately 380m before terminating at the parish boundary at TL 3627 7653.
Public Footpath No. 8, Colne
The full width of Public Footpath No. 8, Colne, starting at the northwestern corner of the old cemetery, at TL 3662 7612 and proceeding generally north for approximately 83m to reach TL 3661 7620, from here, the footpath briefly turns northeast for approximately 14m, to reach TL 3661 7621, from where the footpath continues generally north-west for approximately 529m, terminating at the parish boundary at TL 3632 7664.

Any representations about or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to the undersigned not later than the 28th October 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Cambridgeshire County Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order.
If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
