To allow The Sussex Film Office to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures

Cliffe High Street – from the junction with U5143 South Street to the junction with U5158 Foundry Lane.

Morris Road – for its full extent.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

Temporary Road Closure

Tower Street – from the junction with A265 Burwash Road to the junction with U7064 Marshlands Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A265 Mutton Hall Hill, High Street, Cross in Hand Road – A267 Little London Road – B2203 High Street, Maynards Green Road, Hailsham Road and vice versa.

Dern Lane – from the junction with C208 Furnace Lane to the junction with U7672 Stalkers Lane.

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Broomfield Avenue – from the junction with A259 South Coast Road to the junction with U5823 Buckhurst Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5821 Broomfield Avenue – U5820 Springfield Avenue, Tyedean Road, Amhurst Road, Highview Road – A259 South Coast Road and vice versa or via U5821 Broomfield Avenue – U5822 Grassmere Avenue – U5823 Fairlight Avenue – A259 South Coast Road and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026 No.2

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Featherbed Lane – from the junction with A271 Amberstone to the junction with C15 Cowbeech Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C15 Featherbed Lane, Cowbeech Hill – C344 Stunts Green, West End – A271 Hailsham Road, New Road, Amberstone and vice versa.

The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 September and 19 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

St Martin’s Lane – from the junction with U5122 Southover Road to the junction with A277 High Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5122 Southover Road – U5119 Grange Road, St Pancras Road, Rotten Row, Antioch Street – A277 High Street and vice versa. The Order commenced 11 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 and 30 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C214 Swing Gate Hill – A265 Heathfield Road, Paygate and vice versa.

The Order commenced 3 June 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 28 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Little Trodgers Lane – from the junction with C568 Lake Street to the junction with C14 Tunbridge Wells Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C14 Tunbridge Wells Road – A267 Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill – C568 Lake Street and vice versa.

The Order commences 30 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 30 September and 1 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Framfield Road – from the junction with U7404 Pump Lane to the junction with U7405 School Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2102 Blackboys Road, The Street, Hammonds Green, Bird in Eye Hill, Framfield Road, High Street, Bell Lane, Bell Farm Road – A22 Uckfield bypass, Eastbourne Road – B2192 Heathfield Road, Lewes Road – B2102 High Street and vice versa.

The Order commenced 2 February 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs on 28 and 29 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (Public Footpath Ringmer 17 (part))

(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025

To protect public safety during a housing development, the Secretary of State has extended the above East Sussex County Council’s Order made on 19 September 2025 under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:

Temporary Footpath Closure

Part of Public Footpath Ringmer 17 will be closed to all users between TQ 4537 1295 and TQ 4556 1282 for a distance of 220 metres. An alternative route will be available around the western perimeter of the housing development.

The closure will be in force for 18 months from 1 October 2026, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpath still be unavailable to use.

THE EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (LEWES DISTRICT)

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT

THE EAST SUSSEX (PUBLIC FOOTPATH TELSCOMBE 23, TELSCOMBE 24) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that the above Order, made on 20 February 2026, was confirmed by East Sussex County Council without modifications on 18 September 2026 and took effect from that date. The confirmed Order modifies the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding two public footpaths as follows:

A route comprising two public footpaths in the civil parish of Telscombe, with an arbitrary centreline, as detailed below, and as shown on the Order Plan between points A-B; C-D.

The public footpath Telscombe 23 commences at the extent of the unadopted public highway Northwood Avenue, at point A, at TQ 3927 0245. From point A the public footpath Telscombe 23 continues in a north-west direction for approximately 40 metres, to terminate at the extent of the unadopted public highway Findon Avenue at point B, at TQ 3924 0248. The width of public footpath Telscombe 23 will vary between 1.2 metres and 1.5 metres.

The public footpath Telscombe 24 commences at the extent of the unadopted public highway Findon Avenue, at point C, at TQ 3924 0248. From point C the public footpath Telscombe 24 continues in a north-west direction for approximately 23 metres, to terminate at the extent of the unadopted public highway Findon Avenue at point D, at TQ 3922 0250. The width of the public footpath Telscombe 24 will be 1.5 metres throughout.

A copy of the confirmed Order and the Order Plan may be inspected free of charge in Reception, East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1UE from 9am to 5pm Monday-Thursday and 9am-4.30pm on Fridays between 25 September 2026 and 6 November 2026. Copies of the Order and Order Plan can also be viewed at Lewes District Council, 6 High Street, Lewes, BN7 2AD between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
