What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

(HITCHIN LANE, CLIFTON)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Hitchin Lane, Clifton outside number 1.

This temporary closure is required to enable Sluice valve maintenance work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 21 to 22 October 2026 between the hours of 2000 to 0600 The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure will be via Hitchin Lane, Haycock Gardens, New Rd, Broad St and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 21 October 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

(HORSLOW STREET, POTTON)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Horslow Street, Potton outside number 11.

This temporary closure is required to enable telegraph pole replacement works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 20 to 21 October 2026 between the hours 0800-1800. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure will be via Everton Road, Potton Rd, Everton Rd, Heath Rd, Green End, Mill Street, Gamlingay Rd,King Street, Blackbird Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 20 October 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Stotfold Road, Arlesey outside Etonbury Academy.

This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway surfacing and Zebra Crossing amendment work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 23 October to 3 November. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure will be via A507, Hitchin Rd, Stotfold Rd and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 23 October 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Wrestlingworth Road, Potton between The baulk and Tree Nursery Gardens.

This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway patching works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 22 to 23 October 2026 between the hours 0800-1800 The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route will be via High Street, Eyeworth Rd, High St, Cambridge Rd, Biggleswade Rd, Dunton Lane, Saxon Drivee, Baden Powell Way, B1040, B1042 and vice versa.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Clifton Road, Shefford outside number 60A.

This temporary closure is required to enable stoptap replacement work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 6 to 8 October 2026 between the hours 0800-1600. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure will be via Shefford Rd, Broad St, Clifton Rd, B659, A507, Hitchin Rd, Clifton Rd and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 6 October 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Potton Road, Biggleswade at the Bridge approx. 220m from Baden Powell Way.

This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway patching work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 7 to 9 October 2026 between the hours 0900-1530 The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure will be via B1040, B1042, Bedford Rd, A1, A6001, B1040 and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 7 October 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL – NOTICE OF MAKING

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (CAMBRIDGE ROAD, DUNTON)

(30MPH AND 40MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

On 15th September 2026 Central Bedfordshire Council made the above named Traffic Regulation Order which has the effect as follows:

To introduce a 30mph Speed Limit on the following length of road in Dunton:-

1.  Cambridge Road, from a point approximately 25 metres northeast of its junction with Kings Pond Close and extending in a north easterly direction for approximately 109 metres.

To introduce a 40mph Speed Limit on the following length of road in Dunton:-

1.  Cambridge Road, from a point approximately 134 metres north east of its junction with Kings Pond Close and extending in a north easterly direction for approximately 162 metres.

Date of Operation: The Order will come into operation on 6th November 2026.

On 15th September 2026 Central Bedfordshire Council made the below named Traffic Regulation Order which has the effect as follows:

To introduce Parking for Disabled badge holders only on the following lengths of road in Sandy:-

1.  College Road, west side, from a point in line with the shared property boundary between No.60 and No.62 and extending in a slightly south-easterly direction covering a distance of 6.6 metres in length and 2 metres in width.

Order Title:- Central Bedfordshire Council (Bedfordshire County Council (District of Mid Bedfordshire) (Civil Enforcement Area and Special Enforcement Area) (Waiting Restrictions and Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2008) (Variation No.40) Order 2026 Date of Operation:- The Order will come into operation on the 2nd October 2026.

1. H igh Street, south side, from a point in line with the eastern boundary of no. 22 westwards, covering an area of approximately 6.6 metres in length and 2.7 metres in width.

Order Title:- Central Bedfordshire Council (Bedfordshire County Council (District of Mid Bedfordshire) (Civil Enforcement Area and Special Enforcement Area) (Waiting Restrictions and Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2008) (Variation No.46) Order 2026 Date of Operation:- The Order will come into operation on the 2nd October 2026.
