Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, King Street

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 12 October 2026

Coming into force: 24 October 2026

This Order is being introduced because of LV electrical overlay works including excavation works which are anticipated to be completed 1 November 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of King Street between Cardigan Street and Jericho Street. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route for traffic is via Walton Street, Cardigan Street, Jericho Street and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T18402/AC)

Oxfordshire County Council intends to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

This Order follows the Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice previously issued under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (Reference 176). The restriction remains necessary to allow the works to continue and this Order continues the temporary restriction under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Nature of Restriction: Road Closure

Location: Margaret Road, Oxford, Oxfordshire

Description of Works: Link box replacement, 10m track excavation, removal of old asset and replace with new. Jointing works, backfill and reinstatement being carried out by SCOTTISH AND SOUTHERN POWER DISTRIBUTION (SSEPD).

Duration: Starting on 12/10/2026

The anticipated completion date is 16/10/2026 (inclusive)

(Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders have a maximum duration of 18 months, or 6 months for footpaths, bridleways, cycle tracks and byways that are open to all traffic).

Access: Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for properties within the closed section of road where reasonably practicable.

Suggested Alternative Route: St Anne’s Road, Gathorne Road, Windmill Road

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Horspath Driftway

Prohibition of Through Traffic and Waiting

Date of Order: 28 September 2026

Coming into force: 8 October 2026

This Order is being introduced because of resurfacing of the carriageway and subsequent reinstatement of all lines and road markings which are anticipated to be complete 17 October 2026. This will operate between 20:00 and 06:00hrs. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in the whole length of Horspath Driftway between the A4142 Eastern Bypass and The Slade. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when and where the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via the B4495, B480, A4142 and vice versa. The junction with the bypass will be closed. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
