What is happening?

 THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC)

ORDER 2026 MOORFIELDS LANE LEVEL CROSSING, SKELTON

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing any vehicle to proceed/from proceeding along Moorfields Lane Level Crossing, Skelton from its junction with Hazelcrofts Bridge to Moorfields Lane, Kilpin eastbound for a distance of approximately 150 metres commencing 22 October 2026 between 09.00 hours until 17.00 hours.

The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed Moorfields Lane Level Crossing, Skelton bridge

inspection works, to be carried out and completed in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of

the public. It is anticipated that the works will be completed within eight hours. The alternative route for traffic affected by the Order is via Moorfields Lane, Sarah Rhodes Lane, Howden Road, Skelton Broad Lane, Trandy Lane, Station Road, New Lane, Fox Lane and Main Street, Laxton CP, Kilpin CP, Howdenshire Ward. The road will be closed to all through traffic but access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and pedestrians. The Order will commence 22 October 2026 and continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
