East Suffolk - Temporary Footpath Closures due to Sizewell C Construction Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Public Right of Way

Farnham 4.

As part of the construction phase of Sizewell C nuclear power station, public footpath Farnham 4 will be closed to allow construction of the Two Village Bypass at Friday Street. Two diversions will be in place from the 30th September 2026 to the 19th November 2027 using the footpath Farnham 3 or Benhall 29. This diversion will be sign posted on the ground.

This work was approved by the Sizewell C Development Consent Order (2022).

Leiston cum Sizewell 5.

As part of the construction phase of Sizewell C nuclear power station, public footpath Leiston cum Sizewell 5 will be closed to allow for fencing to be installed on the level crossing A diversion will be in place from the 5th October 2026 to the 16th October 2026 using the highway network in Leiston. This diversion will be sign posted on the ground. The crossing will be open to the public on the weekend of the 10th and 11th October.

This work was approved by the Sizewell C Development Consent Order (2022).

Saxmundham 1 Public Footpath

As part of the construction phase of the Sizewell C nuclear power station, footpath Saxmundham 1 Public Rights of Way (PRoW), will be closed for its whole length from the 24th October 2026 to the 2nd November 2026 for track works. The land forms part of the construction area for the Leiston branch and the Green Rail Route which was approved by the Sizewell C Development Consent Order (2022).
