NOTICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE’S DECISION
Notice is hereby given under section 14(4) of the Transport and Works Act 1992 (“the Act”) that the Secretary of State for Transport has determined under section 13(1) of the Act to make with modifications the Cambourne to Cambridge Order (“the Order”).
The Order was applied for by Cambridgeshire County Council of New Shire Hall, Emery Crescent, Enterprise Campus, Alconbury Weald, Huntingdon, PE28 4YE (“the Council”).
The Order will authorise the construction, maintenance and operation of a guided busway between Sterling Way, Cambourne and Grange Road, Cambridge; intermediate bus-stops along the route; an emergency and maintenance access track; a travel hub building and park and ride site at Scotland Farm, Dry Drayton; bridges over the M11 and Bin Brook; access roads; temporary compounds; the stopping-up, diversion and creation of public rights of way; highway crossings; drainage works and attenuation and infiltration ponds.
The Order would also permit the compulsory acquisition of land for the proposed works and ancillary purposes; the temporary stopping-up of highways; provisions relating to streets; powers to survey and investigate land; powers to carry out works in the highway; the right to use private roads for the purposes of construction; powers to carry out works to streets including their temporary diversion; and the acquisition of replacement land for exchange open space land.
Copies of the Order, once made, may be obtained from the Stationery Office or through booksellers.
The Secretary of State has, pursuant to section 14(1) of the Act, published notice of this determination by way of a decision letter dated 8 September 2026, copies of which may be obtained either at https:// www.gov.uk/government/collections/twa-inspectorreports- and-decision-letters or from the Transport Infrastructure Planning Casework Unit, Department for Transport, Great Minster House, 33 Horseferry Road, London SW1P 4DR. That letter gives the reasons for the determination and the considerations upon which it is based; information about the public participation process; and information regarding the right to challenge the validity of the determination and the procedures for doing so. It also describes the main measures to avoid, reduce and, if possible, remedy any major adverse environmental effects.
