Crook - Temporary Footpath Closures due to Housing Development Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (PROW FP No’s 48 & 49 Crook Parish, Crook) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026
The above-named Order made by the Council on 20/3/2026, under section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 1/4/2026 has been continued in force from 1/10/2026, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, until 1/5/2027 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of FP. 1. 210m length of FP No.48 that extends from opposite FP No.52 High West Road in a north easterly, north-north westerly, south westerly & north westerly direction from High West Road & 2. 215m length of FP No.49 to the western side of FP No.33 High West Road for 41m, that continues on its new line on a generally north-north easterly line for 12m on new FP within the housing development & then in a north-north westerly direction for some 162m & including a 6m spur heading west to FP No 51. To enable housing development works. An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the southern side of the closures, via the associated footways of A689 High West Road westerly to the property known as Westcroft, then northerly via an offered footpath leading north to FP No.48 & continuing north easterly to FP No.49, to the northern side of the closure & vice versa.
