Darlington - Temporary Traffic Restrictions due to Carriageway Repair Works

DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES AND CLEARWAY) ORDER 2026

ST AUGUSTINE’S WAY, BONDGATE, COMMERCIAL STREET AND FOUR RIGGS, DARLINGTON

Darlington Borough Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce:

1. No stopping at any time (clearway); and
2. The prohibition of the driving of vehicles on:

ST AUGUSTINE’S WAY

Eastbound, entirely

An alternative route will be signed via St Cuthbert’s Way, Victoria Road, Coniscliffe Road, Carmel Road North, Woodland Road and vice versa.

FOUR RIGGS

From its junction with Bondgate northwards for 10metres

It is anticipated that these restrictions will be effective between 20:15hours and 06:00hours for 6 days commencing 14th October.

BONDGATE

From the east side of Bondgate Roundabout eastwards to the western boundary of 100 Bondgate

COMMERCIAL STREET

From its junction with Bondgate northwards and eastwards for approximately 46metres

AND

To suspend the northbound one way on Skinnergate between Duke Street and Bondgate and implement one way southbound. To implement no right turn from Bells Place onto Skinnergate and no left turn from Duke Street on to Skinnergate

It is anticipated that these restrictions will be effective between 19:00hours and 06:00hours for 6 days commencing 20th October.

The Order is necessary for road resurfacing works.

The maximum duration of the temporary restrictions under this Order is 18 months commencing from 14th October 2026.
