SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL

(Various Roads – Frenchay Park Area, Winterbourne)
(Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that on 23 September 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to Alexander Road, Bisley Road, Briggs Road, Caseley Crescent, Deane Close, Jenkins Way, Limes Way, Loverose Lane, Merton Road, Mustoe Road, Packer Way, Sage Road, Sinatra Way, Wilson Road and Worrell Road, Winterbourne. N.B. Since the scheme was originally advertised, please note the decision has been made to remove the proposed extension of the no waiting at any time restrictions on the turning head of Deane Close and replace with no waiting 7am - 5pm Monday to Friday. 

Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; Post Office services; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles which display a disabled person’s badge. 

The order will come into operation on 1 October 2026 and a copy thereof together with a map and a copy of the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the order, may be inspected at the Kingswood One Stop Shop, Kingswood Civic Centre, Kingswood during normal opening hours. 

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, may within six weeks after the date on which the order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(Various Roads – Frenchay Park Area, Winterbourne)
(20mph Speed Limit) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that on 23 September 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 82(2), 83(2) and 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to prohibit the driving of motor vehicles at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour in lengths of Alexander Road, Bisley Road, Briggs Road, Caseley Crescent, Deane Close, Jenkins Way, Limes Way, Loverose Lane, Merton Road, Mustoe Road, Packer Way, Sage Road, Sinatra Way, Wilson Road and Worrell Road Winterbourne. 

The order will come into operation on 1 October 2026 and a copy thereof together with a map and a copy of the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the order, may be inspected at the Kingswood One Stop Shop, Kingswood Civic Centre, Kingswood during normal opening hours.

(Cyclepath Iron Acton Way, Yate) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the above order, made by South Gloucestershire District Council on 2 April 2025, has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 13 April 2027 or until such time as the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. 

The effect of the order has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Cyclepath Iron Acton Way which extends from Lodge Road south westwards for 300m.

This order was required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon construction works and would have expired on 13 October 2026. 

Alternative Route: Pedestrians: Footway on opposite side of Iron Acton Way. 

Cyclists: Armstrong Way and North Road to traffic light junction with Iron Acton Way. Equestrians: Dyers Lane and Mission Road.

West of Trinity Lane, Chipping Sodbury) Public Path Diversion Order 2023

Notice is hereby given that the provisions of Article 2 of the above order made on 11 October 2023 and confirmed on 6 December 2023 have now been complied with. The order became operative from 24 September 2026.

(Chapel Lane, Warmley) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles,
Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Chapel Lane which extends from Stanley Road eastwards for 65m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon multiple blockage clearance works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 26 October 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. 

Alternative route: Chapel Lane (parts unaffected), High Street, Stanley Road and vice versa.

(Forest Road, Kingswood) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Forest Road which extends from Britannia Road southwards for 15m.

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon duct laying works on or adjacent to the highway. The order will be operative from 26 October 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 5 days duration.
Alternative routes: 1. Hanham Road, A420; 2. Brittania Road, Kennard Road, A420, Hanham Road.

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon overhead electric works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 26 October 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration. 

SCHEDULE Hawkesbury Hill – that length which extends from High Street to Church Lane. Church Lane – that length which extends from Hawkesbury Hill to Upper Chalkley Lane. Alternative route: Hillesley Road, Chase Hill, Orange End, Church Lane and vice versa.

(Orchard Vale, Kingswood) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Orchard Vale which extends from Fairview Road to Gages Road. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon telecom cabling works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 26 October 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 days duration. 

Alternative route: Fairview Road, Hill Street, High Street, Hollow Road, Orchard Road and vice versa.

(Perrinpit Road, Frampton Cotterell) (No.2)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles and equestrians that length of Perrinpit Road which extends from a point 600m north west of Bristol Road north westwards for 50m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new water connection works. The order will be operative from 26 October 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. 

Alternative route: Bristol Road, Latteridge Road, Church Road, Old Gloucester Road and vice versa.

(Various Roads – A4174 Avon Ring Road Area, Mangotsfield, Pucklechurch and Siston) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to:- 

a) close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice; and b) suspend, temporarily, when signs are covered the County Council of Avon (Siston Lane, Siston, Borough of Kingswood) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles of Over 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) Order 1995 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice, to facilitate the alternative route for heavy vehicles; and c) suspend, temporarily, when signs are covered the South Gloucestershire Council (Various Roads – Kingswood, Mangotsfield and Warmley Area) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles of over 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) (Uni-directional Limit for Heavy Commercial Vehicles) Order 2001 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 3 to this notice, to facilitate the alternative route for heavy vehicles. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with carriageway retexture works. The order will be operative from 28 October 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 night duration, between 8pm and 6am. 

Alternative routes (vice versa): 1, 2 & 3. A4174 (part unaffected), B4465, A46, A420, A4174 (part unaffected); 4. B4465 Shortwood Northern Link – B4465 (part unaffected), Siston Lane, Webbs Heath, A420, A4174. 

SCHEDULE 1 1. Avon Ring Road Dramway Roundabout, Pucklechurch – the entire length of the roundabout; 

2. Avon Ring Road Emersons Green Roundabout to Shortwood Roundabout, Mangotsfield – that length of the southbound carriageway with extends from Emersons Green Roundabout to Dramway Roundabout; 

3. Avon Ring Road Carsons Road Roundabout to Dramway Roundabout, Siston – from Dramway Roundabout southwards for 100m;

4. B4465 Shortwood Northern Link, Pucklechurch – from Dramway Roundabout to Cattybrook Road. 

SCHEDULE 2 Siston Lane, Siston – from B4465 Shortwood Road to Webbs Heath.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Stover Road which extends from a point 28m north of Badminton Road south eastwards for 45m (to its dead end). 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with works to install 2 LV cable ducts. 

The order will be operative from 26 October 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 5 days duration.

(Various Roads, Wickwar) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 202(-)
Details of the proposed changes

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to: a) prohibit vehicles waiting at any time (double yellow lines) in lengths of Derham Green, Eacott Close, Gulwell Drive, Pennington Road, Sodbury Road, Summer View, Tanner Way and Wilcox Gardens, Wickwar; and b) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (Pennington Road, Sodbury Road and Summer View, Wickwar) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2024, the provisions of which will be brought forward unchanged into the new order. 

Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; delivering postal packets; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles displaying a disabled person’s badge.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1) and 2(1) to (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to prohibit any motor vehicle entering, proceeding or waiting in a length of Nibley Lane, Iron Acton. 

Exemptions are contained in the order for vehicles to be used for building, industrial or demolition operations; the removal of any obstruction to traffic; the maintenance, improvement or reconstruction of the road; the laying, erection, alteration or repair in, or in land adjacent to the road of any sewer, or of any main, pipe or apparatus for the supply of gas, water or electricity or any telecommunication apparatus; in the service of a local authority, for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes in exercise of official duties.
