What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (SOUTH END AND MEALSGATE, WIGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. B5304 South End, Wigton, from a point approx. 270m south from its junction with the B5302, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 50m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5304 South End, A595 Thursby Roundabout, A596 and B5302.
Duration: From 19 October 2026 for approx. 1 day, between 0930 and 1530 hours (Ref: TTROC/19944).
2. B5299 Mealsgate, Wigton from its junction with the A595, extending in an overall northerly direction for approx. 70m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the B5299, Aspatria, B5301 and A595.
Duration: From 29 November 2026 for approx. 1 day, between 0930 and 1530 hours (Ref: TTROC/20201).
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 19 October 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
