What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
FOLKESTONE & HYTHE AREA
A259 Cheriton Road, A259 Castle Hill Avenue & Kingsnorth Gardens, Folkestone (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow bridge works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A259 Cheriton Road, A259 Castle Hill Avenue & Kingsnorth Gardens, Folkestone, on or after 19th October 2026 for up to 8 hours or until the works have been completed.
Closures will be imposed between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
A259 Cheriton Road will be closed at the railway bridge.
A259 Castle Hill Road will be closed between the junctions of A259 Cheriton Road and Kingsnorth Gardens.
The alternative route for any Northbound through traffic is via A259 Radnor Park Road, A259 Pavilion Road, A259 Black Bull Road, A2033 Foord Road, A2033 New Street, A2033 Bradstone Road, A2033 Dover Road, A2033 Grace Hill, A2033 Shellons Street, A2033 Middelburg Square, A2034 Cheriton Gardens, A2034 Shorncliffe Road, A259 Shorncliffe Road and A259 Castle Hill Avenue.
The alternative route for any Southbound through traffic is via A259 Castle Hill Avenue, A259 Shorncliffe Road, A2034 Shorncliffe Road, A2034 Cheriton Road, A2034 Middelburg Square, A2033 Foresters Way, A2033 Grace Hill, A2033 Foord Road and A259 Radnor Park Road.
Kingsnorth Gardens will be closed at the junction of A259 Castle Hill Avenue.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Kingsnorth Gardens, A259 Shorncliffe Road, A259 Castle Hill Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Burrow Road, Folkestone (PROHIBITION OF PARKING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit parking on part of Burrow Road, Folkestone, on or after 5th October 2026 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will have a prohibition of parking imposed outside number 14 and from outside number 19 to outside number 31, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Cliff Road & Dixwell Road, Folkestone (PROHIBITION OF PARKING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow gas works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit parking on part of Cliff Road & Dixwell Road, Folkestone, on or after 5th October 2026 for up to 40 days or until the works have been completed.
Restrictions will be imposed to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Parking will be prohibited on part of Cliff Road at the junction of Dixwell Road.
Parking will be prohibited on part of Dixwell Road from outside Little Thorpe House to the junction of A259 Sandgate Road.
Hogg Lane, Snargate & Snargate Road, Kenardington (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Hogg Lane, Snargate & Snargate Road, Kenardington, on or after 19th October 2026 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
Closures will be imposed between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Hogg Lane will be closed at the level crossing.
Snargate Road will be closed at the level crossing.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Snargate Road, Kenardington Road, Heath Road, B2080 The Street, B2080 Station Road, Arrowhead Lane, Hogg Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Tanners Hill, Hythe, CT21 5NG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Tanners Hill, Hythe, on or after 19th October 2026 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
Restrictions will be imposed to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Tanners Hill will be closed at the side of Bay Tree House.
The one-way Order will be suspended between the junctions of Station Road and North Road.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Station Road, North Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
