Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A28 Mill Road, Sturry, CT2 0AX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow rail corrosion inspection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A28 Mill Road, Sturry from 23:30 hours on 5th October 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 6th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with A291 Sturry Hill and High Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A291 Sturry Hill, Herne Bay Road, Calcott Hill, Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, Westbound Slip Onto Wraik Hill Roundabout From A299, A290 Clapham Hill, Pean Hill, Honey Hill, Blean Common, Blean Hill, Tile Kiln Hill, Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, London Road, A2050 Rheims Way, A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town, Upper Bridge Street, Lower Bridge Street, Broad Street, Military Road, Tourtel Road, Sturry Road, A28 Mill Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Bekesbourne Lane, Littlebourne, CT3 1SS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bekesbourne Lane, Littlebourne from 5th October 2026, with estimated completion by 16th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junction with High Street and number 43, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A257 High Street Littlebourne, A257 Wingham Road, A257 Canterbury Road, B2046 High Street, Wingham, Adisham Road, Station Road, Pond Hill, Adisham Downs Road, Adisham Road, Chalkpit Hill, School Lane, Station Road Patrixbourne, Bekesbourne Lane and and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Calais Hill, Tyler Hill, CT2 9LS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Calais Hill, Tyler Hill from 7th October 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Link Road and Wood Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Link Road, Hackington Road, Wood Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Dargate Road, Yorkletts, CT5 3FR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow desilting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Dargate Road, Yorkletts from 21:00 hours on 8th October 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 9th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Fox’s Cross Hill heading northwards approximately 250m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Seasalter Lane, Faversham Road, Joy Lane, B2205 Borstal Hill, A2990 Thanet Way Roundabout, A290 Clapham Hill, A290 Pean Hill, Fox’s Cross Road, Fox’s Cross Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Deansway Avenue, Sturry, CT2 0PF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Deansway Avenue, Sturry from 19th October 2026, with estimated completion by 13th December 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety in 100m sections, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Popes Lane, A291 Herne Bay Road, Deansway Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Grove Ferry Road, Wickhambreaux, CT3 4BP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Ferry Road, Wickhambreaux from 6th October 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Grove Road heading northwards for approximately 730m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic (excluding vehicles over 7.5 tonne) is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, Stourmouth Road, Preston Road, The Street, Plucks Gutter, Gore Street, A253 Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Grove Ferry Hill and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonne is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 Goberry Hill, Roman Road, Pedding Hill, Ash Bypass, Sandwich Road, Each End, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road and A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road and vice versa.

Lower Herne Road, Herne, CT6 7PT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow drainage cleansing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lower Herne Road, Herne from 22nd October 2026 for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with A291 Canterbury Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Canterbury Road, Bullockstone Road, Lower Herne Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Marley Lane, Kingston, CT4 6JH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Marley Lane, Kingston from 6th October 2026 with estimated completion by 7th October 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Marley Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Marley Lane,Turks Hill, Westwood Road, Marley Lane and vice versa.

Mill Lane, Herne, CT6 7DE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow desilting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mill Lane, Herne from 20th October 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Hunters Forstal Road heading northwards for approximately 115m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for southbound traffic is via Mill Lane, A299 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street and School Lane.
The alternative route for northbound traffic is via Hunters Forstal Road, Margate Road, A299 Thanet Way and Mill Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Station Road, Whitstable, CT5 1JE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow pumping station maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Station Road, Whitstable from 5th October 2026 with estimated completion by 8th October 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 14:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with The Sidings and Diamond Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Diamond Road, Westmeads Road, Westgate Terrace, Station Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Street, Adisham, CT3 3NH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow stop tap replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Street, Adisham from 19th October 2026, with estimated completion by 21st October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 152, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Woodlands Road, Woodlands Lane, Poor Start Lane, Bramling Road, Adisham Downs Road, Pond Hill, The Street and vice versa.

Westbound Slip Onto Wraik Hill Roundabout From A299 & Westbound Slip Onto A299 From Wraik Hill Roundabout, Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow investigation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Westbound Slip Onto Wraik Hill Roundabout From A299 & Westbound Slip Onto A299 From Wraik Hill Roundabout, Whitstable from 20th October 2026 with estimated completion by 23rd October 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed at the A299 westbound exit to entry slip, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Various Roads, Herne Bay, Herne & Broomfield (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY 40 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow ducting and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads throughout Herne Bay, Herne & Broomfield. Restrictions are planned in phases from 5th October 2026, with estimated completion by 30th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
Phase 1
These restrictions will be imposed from 5th October 2026, with estimated completion by 16th October 2026.
Mill Lane, Herne
The road will be closed near the junction to join A299 Thanet Way, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for southbound traffic is via A299 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street, School Lane and Mill Lane.
The alternative route for northbound traffic is via Mill Lane, Hunters Forstal Road, Margate Road and A299 Thanet Way.
A299 Thanet Way, Herne & Broomfield
A temporary, mandatory 40 mph speed restriction will be imposed from 850m before the work site to 100m after, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Phase 2
These restrictions will be imposed from 19th October 2026, with estimated completion by 30th October 2026.
Owls Hatch Road, South Of Thanet Way, Herne Bay
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the abandoned building near the bend, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Owls Hatch Road, Bullockstone Road, Greenhill Road, A299 Thanet Way, Greenhill Road, Thornden Wood Road and vice versa.
A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay
A temporary, mandatory 40 mph speed restriction will be imposed from 850m before the work site to 100m after, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
