(Balcombe: London Road (B2036)) (30 MPH & 40 MPH Speed Limit) and (Various Roads: Consolidation) Order 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC proposes to make a permanent Traffic Regulation Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to extend the 30 MPH speed limit on London Road (B2036) south of Balcombe to a point 90m south of the entrance to Balcombe Railway Station carpark and to introduce a 40 MPH speed limit from the southern end of the new 30 MPH Speed limit, southwards for 630m.
It is also proposed to replace the current 50 MPH speed limit on London Road (B2036) north of Balcombe with a 40 MPH Speed limit, with short lengths of 40 MPH Speed limit on Paddockhurst Road and Stoney Lane at their junctions with London Road.
The Order also consolidates existing 30 MPH speed limits on roads within Balcombe village.

People without access to a computer who wish to view details of the scheme should telephone the WSCC Contact Centre on 01243 642105 to receive the documents by post.
Any comments or objections about the proposal must be received before 15 October 2026. These may be submitted via the response form on the website mentioned above, by email to tro.consultation@westsussex.gov.uk or in writing to TRO Team, WSCC, The Grange, Tower Street, Chichester, PO19 1RH. For legal reasons, only correspondence including a full name and address will be considered. Please quote reference MDS2502-MM in all correspondence.
(Hurstpierpoint & Sayers Common: Bridleway 12hu)
(Temporary Closure) Order 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that not less than 7 days from the date of this notice, WSCC intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily close Bridleway 12Hu in Hurstpierpoint from its junction with Bishopstone Lane to its junction with Cuckfield Road.
This restriction is needed to maintain public safety due to a broken footbridge.
The Order will extend the operation of an emergency closure notice and come into effect on 28 September 2026. It will remain in force for 6 months, or until works to repair the bridge are completed, whichever is earlier.
Unfortunately, during the operative period of this Order, no alternative route is available via the public rights of way network.
