What is happening?
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Hall Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Hall Road from its junction with the extended boundary of No’s 70/72 to its junction with the extended boundary of No’s 76/78. Traffic will be diverted via Hall Road, Manor Road, Londonderry Lane & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 05/10/2026 (9am - 3:30pm only). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Clifford Road, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Clifford Road, which will be subject to a cul-de-sac closure leading to property No’s 69 - 119. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route will not be required (cul-de-sac). The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 02/10/2026 (9:30am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access to replace a defective service cover and frame by Severn Trent Water.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (City Road, Park Road, Poplar Avenue and Poplar Rise, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the following roads under a phased programme of road closures. Access to any affected frontages within all of the road closures will be maintained, but only when safety permits:
City Road will be closed from outside property No.319 to the dividing line of property No’s 324/325 (5th - 12th October 2026). A traffic diversion route for each of the Cty Road closures will be signed via Oakham Road, Regent Road, New Birmingham Road & vice versa.
City Road will be closed from the dividing line of property No’s 324/325 to the junction of Poplar Avenue (12th - 26th October 2026).
Park Road will be closed at the junction of City Road (12th - 26th October 2026).
City Road will be closed from the junction of Poplar Avenue to the dividing line of property No’s 337/338 (12th - 26th October 2026).
Poplar Avenue will be closed at the junction of City Road (12th - 26th October 2026). A traffic diversion route for the Poplar Avenue closure will be signed via Poplar Rise.
City Road will be closed between the dividing lines of property No’s 337/338 & property No’s 349/350 (26th October - 9th November 2026).
City Road will be closed from the dividing line of property No’s 349/350 to the gable end of property No.357 (9th - 23rd November 2026).
Poplar Rise will be closed at the junction of City Road (9th - 23rd November 2026). A traffic diversion route for the Poplar Rise closure will be signed via Poplar Avenue.
The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 23/11/2026, effective from 05/10/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for gas main replacement work by Cadent Gas Ltd
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Langley High Street & Broad Street, Oldbury) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Broad Street in a southern direction from east of its junction with Arden Road to north of its junction with Langley High Street. Langley High Street will also be closed in a southern direction from south of its junction with Broad Street to north of its junction with Junction Street South. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via New Henry Street, Thompson Road, Station Road, Titford Road. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 02/11/2026, effective from 05/10/2026 (24hrs). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Stuart Road, Rowley Regis) (Temporary Left Turn Ban) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning left onto Stuart Road from Stuart Road cul-de-sac, property numbers 66-96. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. In addition there will be 4-way temporary traffic signals in operation on Stuart Road at the junction of Windsor Road for the duration of the Stuart Road left turn ban. Traffic will be diverted via Throne Road, Portway Road & Hanover Road. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 09/10/2026, effective from 06/10/2026 (8am - 6pm).
