(A72 & B712 CASTLE CRAIG)

(TEMPORARY 10MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council (A72 & B712 Castle Craig) (Temporary 10mph Speed Restriction) Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 5 October 2026 and is expected to remain in effect until 9 October 2026 between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 each day, and will be in effect only when signs etc are in place. The Order is required to allow a convoy system for pot hole repair works.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle at a speed exceeding 10mph along the A72 from the junction with the B712 to Castle Craig.

(B7059 STATION ROAD, WEST LINTON)

(TEMPORARY CLOSING) NO 2 ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council (B7059 Station Road, West Linton) (Temporary Closing) No 2 Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 29 September 2026 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30. The Order is required for BT works.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along the B7059 Station Road, West Linton.

The alternative route for northbound traffic is via the B7059, A701, A72, A721, A702 and B7059 to the point of closure, for southbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

(OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) (PEEBLES) ORDER 2002

(AMENDMENT NO. 2) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council, on 21 September 2026, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Sections 32 and 35 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, as amended made the above Order. The Order will come into operation on 1 October 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to standardise the daily operational period across Pay and Display car parks to between 08:30 and 17.00, to standardise (i) tariff bands across Pay and Display car parks, (ii) costs for tariff bands, and (iii) surcharges, excess charges and irregular parking charges.

In particular, this Order relates to Edinburgh Road (Saturday only), Greenside and Swimming Pool Car Parks, Peebles.

A copy of the Order as made may be examined at Traffic and Road Safety, Network, Environment and Infrastructure, The Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, from Mondays to Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and also at the Council’s Contact Centre High Street, Peebles EH45 8AG during normal working hours.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 25 September 2026 make application for the purpose to the Court of Session.
