TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

KEELEY LANE, WOOTTON 26 – 112

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Keeley Lane, Wootton from opp 66 to outside 66a.

This temporary road closure is required to build new joint box and lay approx 23m of Duct 54/56 in fw/cw/verge and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 18:00 hours from 5th October 2026 to 7th October 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Fuller Way, Keeley Lane, Bedford Road, Wootton Road, Wood End Lane, Wood End Road, Hall End Road.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of High Road, Cotton End from Wood Lane to Harrows Close.

This temporary road closure is required to remove splitter islands and resurfacing carriageway and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 9th October 2026 to 10th October 2026

CHURCH ROAD, COLMWORTH 26 – 115

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Church Road, Colmworth outside Hill view.

This temporary road closure is required to replace one existing telegraph pole and rehang associated cabling and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 17:00 hours from 19th October 2026 to 20th October 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Church Road, Mill Road, Staploe Road, Lower Honeydon Lane, Bushmead Road, Little Staughton Road.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Park Road, Stevington from Silver Street To Farley Way. This temporary road closure is required to aid traffic management whilst footway resurfacing is undertaken and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:00 to 15:00 hours from 19th October 2026 to 21st October 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Park Road, Court Lane, West End, Pavenham Road, The Causeway, Turvey Road, Carlton Road, Turvey Loop, High Street, Bedford Road, Northampton Road, Bromham Bypass, Stagsden Road, Village Road, Oakley Road.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any pedestrian from proceeding along the footpath Park Road, Stevington from Silver Street To Farley Way This temporary footway closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway resurfacing is carried out and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary footway closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:00 to 15:00 hours from 19th October 2026 to 21st October 2026

Pedestrians affected by the proposed Order should follow the diversion route as appropriate. The proposed Order will come into operation on 19th October 2026 for a period of six months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier. Bedford Borough Council proposes to introduce

“No Waiting at Any Time” restrictions in Cotton End Road Wilstead Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council proposes to introduce “No Waiting at Any Time” restrictions in Cotton End Road, Wilstead. The restrictions are required to prevent obstructive parking associated with new highway infrastructure delivered under a Section 278 Agreement, maintain vehicle visibility, protect the safe operation of the highway, and facilitate the free flow of traffic.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions on the following length of road:

A  Cotton End Road, Wilstead

(i)   On its northern kerb, extending from the west boundary wall of No 77 for approx. 25.6 metres in an easterly direction.

(ii)  On its northern kerb extending from a point 77.3 metres east of the west boundary wall of No 77 for approx.15.1 metres in an easterly direction.

Relevant proposal documents may be examined during normal office hours at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP. They will also be available for viewing on the council’s website at www.bedford.gov.uk/proposedtro. The documents will be placed on deposit until 6 weeks after the Order is made or until it is decided not to continue with the proposal.
