NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION
AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT
MODIFICATION ORDER
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE
ACT 1981

The Oxfordshire County Council,
North Newington Footpaths Nos. 1 (part) & 4 (part),
Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and
Statement Modification Order 2026

On 21 September 2026, the Oxfordshire County Council confirmed the above Order under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by diverting, as shown on the Order map: -

–  North Newington FP1 running from OS Grid Ref SP 4218 3990 north-eastwards for 25m to SP 4220 3991 and eastnorth-eastwards for 159m to SP 4236 3993 to a new line running from OS Grid Ref SP 4218 3990 north-northeastwards for 33m to SP 42199 39933 and eastwards for 163m via SP 42201 39935 and SP 4221 3993 to SP 4236 3993; and

–  North Newington FP4 running from OS Grid Ref SP 42201 39938 eastwards for 171m to a junction with FP1 and FP2 at SP 4237 3993 to a new line running from OS Grid Ref SP 42201 39938 southwards for 4m to FP1 at SP 42201 39935.

The Order came into force on the date of confirmation but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (the Act), as amended, and/or the powers of section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA) or on the ground that any requirement of either Act or of any regulation made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act and as applied by s53A(7) WCA, within six weeks from 24 September 2026 make an application to the High Court.
