STOPPING UP ORDER NO. 3 2026

NOTICE OF MAKING OF A STOPPING UP ORDER

UNDER SECTION 247 OF THE TOWN AND

COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Sutton (hereinafter called the “Council”) has drafted an order (the “Order”) pursuant to section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (the “Act”) in respect of a bus layby on the west side of Throwley Way.

The extent of public highway that will be subject to the Order is shown hatched in black on the map attached to the Order. The effect of the Order would be that the said land would cease to be public highway.

The Council is satisfied that it is necessary to stop up the public highway that is subject to the Order to allow for the implementation of the planning permission described in the Schedule.

The Council will formally consider any objections to the making of the Order which are submitted to it within the 28-day consultation period commencing on Thursday 24th September 2026 and ending on Thursday 22nd October 2026. Any objections must be in writing and sent to Bevan Brittan LLP at Kings Orchard, 1 Queen Street, Bristol, BS2 0HQ or by email to https://www.bevanbrittan.com/people/kathryn-lawrance/ quoting reference KL/102064.81.

A copy of the Order and a map defining the land to which it relates can be inspected at the Council Offices at Front Reception, Civic Offices, St Nicholas Way, Sutton SM1 1EA, from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 4.45pm on Friday (excluding bank and public holidays) until Thursday 22nd October 2026.
