Merton - Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Traffic Restrictions Due To Various Works

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 14(1) - (West Barnes Lane, KT3) - (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) (No. 4) - Order 2026
1. THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON COUNCIL Hereby Give Notice that to facilitate signal and telecoms maintenance works at the Motspur Park Level Crossing on West Barnes Lane, KT3, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. Whilst the works take place no person would:
(a) Cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in West Barnes Lane between a point 55 metres south-west of the Motspur Park level crossing and a point 20 metres north-east of that level crossing;
(b) Cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicle in the length of West Barnes Lane specified in sub-paragraph 2(a) above.
(c) enter or proceed on foot in the length of West Barnes Lane specified in sub-paragraph 2(a) above.

3. The restrictions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

4. An alternative route for diverted vehicular traffic would be via: West Barnes Lane, Claremont Avenue, Burlington Road and West Barnes Lane, or vice versa.

5. Pedestrians affected by the road closure should proceed using Station Road, the Motspur Park pedestrian bridge (public right of way No. 130) and Claremont Avenue.

6. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

7. Nothing in the Order would apply: -
(a) To any person carrying out the works or any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works;
(b) To anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(c) To any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or
(d) So as to prevent vehicular access to premises in or adjacent to the length of road specified in paragraph 2 above, insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the works.

8. The Order would come into operation at 12:30am on Thursday 15th October 2026 and remain in force until 5:00am the same day.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Sections 14(1) - (Ivy Gardens, Mitcham) - (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) Order 2026
1. THE COUNCIL OF THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON Hereby Give Notice that to facilitate sewer repair works in Ivy Gardens, they made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. During the works, no person will:-
(a) Cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in Ivy Gardens, from its junction with Greenwood Road north-eastward for a distance of 24 metres; or
(b) Cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading a vehicle, in the length of road specified in sub paragraph 2(a) above.

3. During the works.
(a) the one-way working in Ivy Gardens will be suspended and two-way traffic permitted;
(b) any designated parking place situated in the length of road specified in sub-paragraph 2(a) above will be suspended.

4. The restrictions and suspensions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5. Nothing in the Order will apply to: -
(a) Any vehicle being used in the execution of the said works; or
(b) Anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer; or
(c) Any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or
(d) Any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited road or length of road insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

6. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed using Abbotts Road, Greenwood Road, Holly Way and Wide Way as required.

7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

8. The Order will come into operation on 5 October 2026, and it is anticipated the works will be completed on 16 October 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 3 months should further works be required.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 14(1) - (Commonside East, CR4) - (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) Order 2026
1. THE COUNCIL OF THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON Hereby Give Notice that to facilitate telecommunication mast works in Commonside East, CR4, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. During the works no person would cause or permit any vehicle to:-
(a) Enter or proceed in Commonside East, the main arm, from its junction with Manor Road north-westward for a distance of 130 metres; or
(b) Wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading a vehicle, in the length of Commonside East specified in sub-paragraph (a) above.

3. The restrictions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

4. Nothing in the Order would apply to:-
(a) Any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
(b) Anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(c) Any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions.

5. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed using Windmill Road, Croydon Road and Commonside West.

6. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

7. The Order would come into force on Monday 5th October 2026, and it is expected that the works would be carried out that day between the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm. However, the Order would remain in force for a period of 3 months should further works be required.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 14(1) - (Abbey Road And Pincott Road) - (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) Order 2026
1. THE COUNCIL OF THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON Hereby Give Notice that to enable width restriction removal works in Abbey Road and Pincott Road (subject to consultation), they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said roads.

2. During the works no person would:-
(a) Cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in:-
(i) Abbey Road, from a point in line with the northern kerb line of Station Road northward for a distance of 15 metres;
(ii) Pincott Road, from a point in line with the northern kerb line of High Path, northward for a distance of 25 metres;

(b) cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicles in the roads or lengths of road specified in sub-paragraph (a)(i) and (ii) above.

3. The restrictions would apply only during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

4. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

5. Nothing in the Order would apply to:-
(a) Anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(b) Any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
(c) So as to prevent access to premises in or adjacent to the length of road specified in paragraph 2 above insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

6. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed using High Path, the A24, Morden Road and High Street Merton as applicable.

7. The Order would come into operation on Monday 12 October 2026 with the works anticipated to be completed within 2 weeks. However, the Order would remain in force for 3 months should further works be required.
