County of Leicestershire: Restricted Byway B38A Along Read's Close, Slawston - Definitive Map Modification

SECTION 53 – WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT FOR 
THE COUNTY OF LEICESTERSHIRE
ADDITION OF RESTRICTED BYWAY B38A
ALONG READ’S CLOSE, SLAWSTON
DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2018

On 20th October 2025 an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above-named Order subject to the red ink modifications thereon.  The effect of the Order as confirmed was to add a restricted byway (B38a) at Read’s Close, in the Parish of Slawston and the district of Harborough shown by a black broken line with short intervals on Plan No. M1038 annexed hereto, which extends from Point A on the plan situate at its junction with Main Street, Slawston at Grid Reference 4779 29444 in a generally northerly direction along Read’s Close for a distance of approximately 90 metres to Point B on the plan situate at its junction with Public Footpath B38 at Grid Reference 47781 29453 and then continues in a generally easterly direction along Read’s Close for a further distance of approximately 90 metres, to Point C on the plan situate at Grid Reference 47789 29453 and then continues in a generally southerly direction along Read’s Close for a further distance of approximately 80 metres returning to Main Street and joining it at Point D on the plan situate at Grid Reference 47789 29445.

The restricted byway to be added has a width of 4 metres. A copy of the Order as confirmed and the Order map has been placed and may be seen free of charge at Room 200, County Hall, Glenfield and the offices of Harborough District Council, The Symington Building, Adam & Eve Street, Market Harborough LE16 7AG during normal office hours.  A copy has also been sent to the Clerk to Slawston Parish Meeting.

Copies of the Order and map may be purchased at a cost.

The Order was confirmed by the Secretary of State on 20th October 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may within six weeks from the date of this Notice, make an application to the High Court.
