(30, 40 & 50 MPH SPEED LIMITS) (A419) (VARIOUS PARISHES)

(STROUD DISTRICT & COTSWOLD DISTRICT) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Gloucestershire County Council in exercise of its enabling powers under Sections 82 & 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 has made the above-named order the effect of which will be:

1. To introduce the speed limits detailed in the schedules below; and

2. To rectify anomalies between the existing 30mph speed limit Traffic Order and the on-site situation on Stroud Road in Cirencester, by revoking the existing Traffic Order and introducing a 30mph speed limit by virtue of street lighting (where there is street lighting) and by Traffic Order as detailed in Schedule 1 below (where there is no streetlighting) along Stroud Road, Cirencester.

3. To re-introduce the existing 40mph speed limit on London Road from Stroud to Chalford to consolidate the speed limits on the A419 into one Traffic Order and to rectify the anomalies between what is signed on-street and the Traffic Order. There will be no changes to the existing signed 40mph speed limit on-street on London Road between Stroud & Chalford.

Schedule 3 - 50mph Speed Limit to be Introduced by Traffic Order

The lengths of roads fall within the parishes of Brimscombe & Thrupp, Chalford & Minchinhampton in the Stroud District and the parishes of Sapperton, Coates & the Town of Cirencester within the Cotswold District in the County of Gloucestershire.

The Order shall come into effect on 30th September 2026.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE 401306 ROAD FROM CROWN INN TO LOWER MANOR

FRAMPTON MANSELL (SAPPERTON PARISH) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the 401306 Road from Crown Inn to Lower Manor Frampton Mansell from its junction with Bakers Mill to outside the property known as ‘Lower Manor’ for a distance of approximately 127 metres. The reason for the closure is for inspection works by Network Rail.

The road is expected to be closed between 09:30hrs and 15:30hrs on 28th September 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE 401006 EWEN ROAD

(SOMERFORD KEYNES PARISH) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the 401006 Ewen Road from outside the property known as ‘Coronation Cottage’ to its junction with the road from Spratsgate Lane to The Street for a distance of approximately 737 metres.

The reason for the closure is for carriageway patching works.

The road is expected to be closed from 30th September 2026 until 2nd October 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the C325 Dyer Street Road from outside of the property known as ‘No 32 Market Place’ to outside of the property known as ‘No.1 Dyer Street’ for a distance of approximately 27 metres.

The reason for the closure is for works on behalf of Wales & West Utilities.

The road is expected to be closed from 28th September 2026 until 2nd October 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF VARIOUS ROADS

(VARIOUS PARISHES) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily restrict part of the lengths of road as detailed in the Schedule below.

SCHEDULE

The reason for the restrictions is for public safety during the holding of an event at Westonbirt Arboretum, namely Westonbirt Autumn Colours 2026.

There will be no waiting and no loading or unloading permitted throughout the duration of the said works.

The Order comes into force on 25th September 2026 and will remain in force until 15th November 2026 between the hours of 09:00 and 17:30.

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the C171 County Boundary to High Street from its junction with Ham Lane to its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 147 metres.

The reason for the closure is for Carriageway Patching works.

The road is expected to be closed on 1st October 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

The reason for the closure is for pole testing works by Openreach.

The road is expected to be closed between 09:30hrs and 15:30hrs on 13th October 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

The reason for the closure is for pole testing works by Openreach.

The road is expected to be closed between 09:30hrs and 15:30hrs on 9th October 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF 401306 ROAD FROM CROWN INN TO LOWER MANOR

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the 401306 Road from the Crown Inn to Lower Manor Frampton Mansell from a point at ‘Bakers Mill Lock’ to a point adjacent to ‘The Railway Bridge’ for a distance of approximately 235 metres.

The reason for the closure is for drainage works.

The said road is expected to be closed from 12th October 2026 until 30th October 2026.

Alternative Route: as signed on site. Emergency access will be maintained. Pedestrian access will not be maintained as excavations are in middle of a narrow lane.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND RESTRICTION OF VARIOUS ROADS

(VARIOUS TOWNS AND PARISHES) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close and restrict, at the said times, part of the lengths of roads as detailed in the Schedule below.

SCHEDULE

The reason for the said closures and restrictions is for carriageway resurfacing works. There will be no stopping or waiting and no loading permitted throughout the duration of the said works.

The said roads are expected to be closed and restricted at various times, on a rolling programme commencing from 14th October 2026, where the presence of approved signage will indicate whether the said closures and restrictions are in force. Further advance warnings of dates/times will be displayed on site prior to the said closures and restrictions taking effect.

This Order may permit the said closures and restrictions in any order, or simultaneously as required. It is anticipated all works will be completed by 31st December 2026. However, if the works are not completed by this date, the Order may remain in force for up to 18 months.
