Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Clearway Restrictions due to Works

(Butts Lane, Danbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Butts Lane, Danbury in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Maldon Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a northerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th October 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC0080GEAA5557978RCSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while tree cutting works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Maldon Road, London Road, Runsell Lane, Hopping Jacks Lane and Butts Lane.

The Order will come into effect on 1st October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Fambridge Road, Maldon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Fambridge Road, Maldon in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 115m south east of its junction with New Street for a distance of approximately 75m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th October 2026 for 6 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN013317492 – Essex and Suffolk Water).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water connection works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Spital Road, Wycke Hill B1018 and vice versa (with access only into Fambridge Road).

The Order will come into effect on 1st October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hyde Lane & Cherry Garden Lane, Danbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of Hyde Lane, Danbury in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Cherry Garden Lane to its junction with Maldon Road a distance of approximately 145m.

2. To temporarily close that length of Cherry Garden Lane, Danbury in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Hyde Lane to its junction with Maldon Road a distance of approximately 145m.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 19th October 2026 – (20:00 - 3:00) for 4 nights, or where stated on a valid permit (BC311005WH1W0H2D & BC311006WH1W0H2D – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Hyde Lane, B1418, A414 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 1st October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, District of Maldon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order (No.7) 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Maldon as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. To introduce a temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Maldon District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 1st October 2026 exact dates will be specified on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Birchwood Road, Purleigh in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Chimney Pot Lane for a distance of approximately 25m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th October 2026 for 8 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30082748847 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Mill Hill, The Glebe, Pump Lane, Chelmsford Road, Burnham Road, Goat House Lane, Hackmans Lane, Birchwood Road and vice versa (with access only into Birchwood Road).

The Order came into effect on 17th September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Colchester Road, Heybridge) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Colchester Road, Heybridge in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Goldhanger Road to its junction with Cedar Chase a distance of approximately 180m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th October 2026 for 33 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001517163 – Cadent Gas). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas connection works are undertaken by Cadent Gas.

An alternative route is available via B1023, South Street, B1026 and vice versa (with access only into Colchester Road, Broad Street Green, B1022).

The Order came into effect on 17th September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Maple Avenue, Heybridge) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Maple Avenue, Heybridge in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 85m west then south west of its junction with Rowan Drive for a distance of approximately 70m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th October 2026 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30040811394 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

No diversion route is available.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the City of Colchester and District of Maldon as specified in the schedule.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
