Whorral Bank at Morpeth - The Stopping up of an Irregular Shaped Area of Highway

The Secretary of State hereby gives notice of the proposal to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act to authorise the stopping up of an irregular shaped area of highway to the east of Whorral Bank at Morpeth, in the County of Northumberland.

If the Order is made, the stopping up will be authorised only in order to enable development as permitted by Castle Morpeth Borough Council, under reference 88/D/606.

Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan will be available for inspection during normal opening hours at Northumberland County Council, County Hall, Morpeth, NE61 2EF in the 28 days commencing on 24 September 2026, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State (quoting SUO7637240) at the address stated below.

Any person may object to the making of the proposed order by stating their reasons in writing to the Secretary of State at nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk  or National Transport Casework Team, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 7AR, quoting the above reference. Objections should be received by midnight on 22 October 2026.

NOTICE is also hereby given that a Public Local Inquiry will be held by an Inspector appointed for the purpose by the Secretary of State for Transport into his proposal to make the Order. Details of the inquiry will be issued to concerned parties following the consultation period.
