Notice of Confirmation of a Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order

Highways Act 1980 Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981

Dorset Council (Part of Footpath 46, Okeford Fitzpaine) Public Path Diversion Order 2025

On 28 August 2026 Dorset Council confirmed the above-named order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 as unopposed and the Council has certified that work has been carried out to bring the site of the new highway mentioned in article 3 of the order into a fit condition for use by the public.

The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert Footpath 46, Okeford Fitzpaine as shown on the order map as follows:

From the existing path:

The whole width of the footpath from ST 8043 1143 generally north west to ST 8013 1180

(No recorded width)

To the new path:

From its junction with Footpath 44 at ST 8056 1174 north west then generally west north west along the northern side of the field boundary to a tree at ST 8041 1180 then continuing along the field edge generally west, south west then west to a field gate at ST 8014 1180. Then west to the unaffected part of Footpath 46 (to be renumbered Footpath 70) at ST 8013 1180. Width: 2.5m except at Point D 1.2m.

The order comes into force on 04 September 2026 but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 24 September 2026, make an application to the High Court.

Temporary Closure of B3157, Abbotsbury

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along B3157, ABBOTSBURY between its junction with Back Street and its junction with Glebe Close, a distance of approximately 430 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 28 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 09 October 2026.

This Order will enable Wessex Internet, safe access to carry out fibre cable installation.

An alternative route will be signed using; A35 - B3159 - A354

Temporary Closure of Gatemore Road, Winfrith Newburgh

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Gatemore Road, Winfrith Newburgh from junction with A352 to a point approximately 40 metres to the north (in both directions) The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 12th October 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 30th October 2026

This Order will enable Wessex Water Services, safe access for the installation of new 125mm water main and new connections.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using: Church Road, C33, Old Weymouth Road, Redbridge Road. Moreton Road, Kit Lane, A352.

Temporary Closure of Swyre Road, West Bexington

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along SWYRE ROAD, WEST BEXINGTON, in its entirety. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 30 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 06 October 2026.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance works.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

The County of Dorset (White Way, Litton Cheney)

(Weight Restriction) (No. 4) Order 2026

Dorset Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

When the Order comes into operation on 2nd October 2026 the effect of the Order will be to introduce a new 7.5 tonne maximum weight restriction along White Way, Litton Cheney.

Temporary Closure of Access Road to Harveys Farm, Plush

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Access Road to Harveys Farm Plush, between Fox Ways and Harveys Farm (in both directions), a distance of approximately 80 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 12th October 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 23rd October 2026.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out culvert works.

The County of Dorset, Various Roads, Dorset - 30mph, 40mph and 50mph Speed Limit Orders 2026

Dorset Council has made Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

When the Orders come into operation on 25th September 2026 the effect will be to formalise the existing 30mph, 40mph and 50mph speed limits along sections or entire lengths of various roads in Colehill, Shaftesbury, St Leonards and St Ives, Verwood and Weymouth.
