(CHEW ROAD) TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2025
On 3 September 2026 the Secretary of State for Transport approved the continuing in force of the above Order made on 25 March 2025, effective from 1 April 2025 and subsequently extended to 30 September 2026.
The Secretary of State has granted a further extension of the said Order until 30 November 2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
The effect of the Order (as extended) is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along that part of Footpath 272 Saddleworth (Chew Road) from its junction with Footpath 274 at Chew Brook to its junction with Footpath 270.
here is no alternative route. Where possible, outside of working hours and at weekends the footpath will be reopened.
The Order was made to allow United Utilities to carry out spillway improvements and has been extended due to unforeseen delays.
