Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Woodhouse Street, Atherton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.

• The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Woodhouse Street, Atherton on 2nd November 2026 to 13th November 2026.

• The alternative route for traffic is: Tyldesley Road – Millers Lane – Hamilton Street.

The Order is necessary to allow new water connection.

Warrington Road, Wigan – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Warrington Road, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Warrington Road, Wigan on 24th October 2026 to 1st November 2026.

A signed diversion route for traffic will be in place.

The Order is necessary to allow the upgrade of a 5G mast.

Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Unnamed Paths Keble Grove, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Unnamed Paths Keble Grove, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.

The effect of the Order means that no person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use:

• the unnamed path from its junction with Wigan Road at Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 364344 401500, in a northeasterly direction to Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 364363 401512 for a distance of approximately 23 metres.

• the unnamed path from its junction with Keble Grove at Point C as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 364391 401571, in a southerly direction to its junction with Kingsley Street at Point D as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 364412 401495 for a distance of approximately 80 metres.

Please note that there will be no alternative route.

The unnamed public footpaths will be closed for a period of six months commencing on 5th October 2026 to enable development to take place of the construction of 24 apartments, and to safeguard the public whilst work is undertaken.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Sections 90A(1), 90C, 90D and 90E of the Highways Act as amended by Schedule 10 of the Transport Act 1989 and of all other enabling powers, proposes to construct 75mm raised tables in accordance with the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999, on:

• Primrose Street North, Tyldesley for a distance of 8 metres north of its junction with Shuttle Street.

• On the junction of Elliot Street and Well Street/Milk Street, Tyldesley.

Any objection or representations must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Chief Legal Officer, Wigan Council, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN or to the above email address quoting reference RD/LS/20096289 not later than 16th October 2026.

Wigan Road, Atherton – Temporary Closure

Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Wigan Road, Atherton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 11th October 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Wigan Road, Atherton on 11th October 2026 between the hours of 08:30 and 12:00 only.

The alternative route for traffic is: Leigh Road – Lovers Lane – Wigan Road

The Order is necessary to allow installation of frame and cover.
