Westmorland & Furness - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (SCHOOL HILL, LINDALE AND CHEAPSIDE, AMBLESIDE AND C5028, NEAR AND FAR SAWREY) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the;

(i) School Hill, Lindale, from its junction with Bell Hill, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 20 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of School Hill, The Gill and Bell Hill.

Duration: From 15th October 2026 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROW/20410)

(ii) Cheapside, Ambleside, from its junction with the Market Place, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 25 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Cheapside, U5540 and Market Place (A591).

Duration: From 15th October 2026 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROW/20573)

(iii) C5028, Near and Far Sawrey, from a point approx. 310 metres south west of its junction with the B5285, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 90 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of C5028, B5285 and the U5057.

The Order will come into operation on 15th October 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
