Lyndhurst Avenue - Temporary Road Closure due to Gas Main Replacement Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Lyndhurst Avenue, Chester-le-Street) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 20 metre length of Lyndhurst Avenue, Chester-le-Street, to the side of No. 44 & 55 to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure no alternative diversion will be available to vehicular traffic, however access and egress will be maintained. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required from 8am on Tuesday 13/10/2026 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 5 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
