NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Strathmore Avenue, Ashton in Makerfield) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Strathmore Avenue, Ashton in Makerfield on 2nd November 2026 to 9th November 2026. The alternative route for traffic is: Wentworth Road – Priory Road The Order is necessary to allow new electric connection.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Sections 32, 35 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers, has made the Wigan Borough (Off Street Parking Places) (Garswood Street Car Park) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 30th September 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce limited waiting at Garswood Street car park. Limited waiting times will be as follows:

A copy of the Order and of the relevant map may be requested by emailing s.eccles-churton@wigan.gov.uk
Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground:
(a) that it is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or the Traffic Management Act 2004, or
(b) that any requirement of the said Section 1, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 or of any requirement of the 2004 Act, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 10th September 2026 make application for the purpose to the High Court.

Wigan Borough Council (Public Bridleway Standish No. 82a) Definitive Map Modification Order 2026
The above order was made on 17th September 2026, if confirmed as made, it will modify the definitive map and statement for Standish, by adding to them the bridleway from:
• Public bridleway Standish No. 82 at Point A on the Order Map at grid reference 356481 407605 the route heads northwest along a dismantled railway to near the junction with public footpaths Standish No. 76, 78 and 80 by Frodsham Farm House at Point B on the Order Map at grid reference 355850 407885.
A copy of the order and the order map be seen free of charge at the Town
Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN from 9.00am to 4.30pm on any day Monday to Friday. Copies of the order and map may be bought there at the price of £1.
Any representation or objection to the order may be sent or delivered in writing addressed to the Chief Legal Officer at the Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN not later than 6th November 2026. Please state the grounds on which it is made.
If no such representations or objections are duly made to the order, or if any so made are withdrawn, Wigan Borough Council, instead of submitting the order to the Secretary of State, may itself confirm the order as an unopposed order. If the order is submitted to the Secretary of State, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
