Pelton - Temporary Footpath Closure due to New Housing Development Works

The County Council of Durham (Public Rights of Way, Footpath Number 9, Pelton Parish, off Station Lane, Pelton) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026

The above-named Order made by the Council on 20/3/2026, under section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 30/3/2026 has been continued in force, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, until 30/3/2028 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footpath. A 170 metre length of Public Footpath No.9 Pelton Parish, that extends eastward from its junction with Station Lane (adjacent to Pelton Farm House Estate), Pelton to enable new housing development works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the western side of the closure, from Station Lane south to Bernard Terrace, east to Charles Terrace, north and east on Footpath No.11, then north west on Footpath No.9 to the eastern side of the closure and vice versa.
