The North Yorkshire Council (School Streets, Gladstone Road Primary School, Scarborough) (Prohibition Of Driving) Experimental Order 2026 Notice is hereby given that on Friday, 11/09/2026 The North Yorkshire Council made an Order under Sections 9 & 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, the effect of which is to prohibit the driving of motor vehicles as set out in Schedule 1 below, for an experimental period of eighteen months. A copy of the Order, which comes into force on Monday, 05/10/26 , together with a map showing the road affected & a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may be inspected at County Hall, Northallerton & at Scarborough Library & Information Centre, Vernon Road, Scarborough YO11 2NN during normal office hours from Thursday, 24/09/26 until 23/03/28 & also viewed online at

or

The Council will be considering, in due course, whether the provisions of the Order should be
continued in force indefinitely. Within a period of six months from the coming into force of the Order, or if the Order is subsequently varied or modified, from the coming into force of that variation or modification (whichever is the later), any person may object to the making of an Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation. Any person wishing to object to the indefinite continuation of the Order must state the grounds for their objection, in writing, addressed to Area 3 Highways Depot, Discovery Way, Whitby, North Yorkshire YO22 4PZ or by email to

If any person wishes to question the validity of the above Experimental Orders or of any provision contained in them, on the grounds that they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, they may, within six weeks of Friday, 11/09/26 make application to the High Court for that purpose.
