Notice of Making of an Order of Modification

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that London Borough of Lewisham on 24 September 2026, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, modified the provisions of The Lewisham (Prescribed Routes) (No.1) (School Streets) Experimental Traffic Order 2026, which came into force on 23rd February 2026.

2. This Order may be cited as The Lewisham (Prescribed Routes) (No. 1) (School Streets) Experimental Traffic Order 2026 (Amendment No. 1) Order 2026 and will come into force 28 September 2026.

3. The general effect of the modification will be:

(a) in respect of the pedestrian and cycle zone “School Street” relating to Adamsrill Primary School and St Michael’s C of E Primary School:

(i) to remove Burghill Road and Larkbere Road from the “School Street”;

(ii) to reduce the lengths of Adamsrill Road and Champion Crescent that form part of the “School Street”;

(iii) to remove the following properties from being eligible for permits (SS6) that allow entry into the “School Street”:
• No. 214 Perry Rise
• Dillwyn Close
• Nos. 1 to 18 Paxton Court
• Nos. 29 to 31A Champion Road (odds)
• Nos. 1 to 29/29A Champion Crescent
• Nos. 3 to 75 Larkbere Road (odds)
• Nos. 2 to 60 Larkbere Road (evens)
• Nos. 60 to 80 Burghill Road (evens)
• Nos. 31 to 55 Burghill Road (odds);
(iv) to include the following from the list of properties eligible for a permit (SS6) to enter the “School Street”:
• No. 55 Burghill Road
• Nos. 1 to 7 Champion Crescent
• Nos. 15 to 29 Champion Crescent

(b) in respect of the pedestrian and cycle zone “School Street” relating to Prendergast Vale School, to include Venice Court, Tuscany Corte, Sienna Alto, Elmira Street and Roma Court in the list of properties eligible for a permit (SS55) to enter the “School Street”.

4. The original experimental Order provides that in pursuance of section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, the Council’s Road Safety and Sustainable Transport Manager, or some person authorised by them, may, if it appears to them or that person essential in the interests of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic or for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Order extends, modify or suspend the Order or any provision thereof.

5. The Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the original experimental Order (as modified by this Order) should be continued in force indefinitely by means of a permanent Order. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation within a period of six months beginning from the date of this modification.

Any such objection must be made in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent to trafficorders@lewisham.gov.uk or posted to Strategic Transport, Laurence House, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU, quoting reference  “PTO-1106”.
