HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2026
BRIDLEWAY 183 BRENTWOOD IN THE BOROUGH OF BRENTWOOD
On 14/09/2026, Essex County Council confirmed the above order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert a part length of Bridleway 183 Brentwood, commencing from a point at grid reference 55874,18864 Postcode CM13 3JT north of the Southend Arterial Road and south west of Codham Hall, proceeding in a north-westward direction through a storage compound to a point outside its north western corner fencing, to an alternative route commencing from the aforementioned point south west of Codham Hall, proceeding west southwestward adjacent to and outside the storage compound fencing to the eastern side of Codham Hall Wood, where it continues northward adjacent to the wood to the aforementioned point north west of the storage compound fencing connecting to the unaffected part of Bridleway 183 Brentwood, as shown on the order map, A copy of the order and the order map can be requested to be posted or viewed by emailing publicpathorders@essexhighways.org to arrange a suitable time to view the document quoting the order title.
The document can be made available for inspection from 8:30am-4:30pm Mon-Fri at Essex County Council, County Hall, E block main reception, Market Road, Chelmsford CM1 1QH.
A copy is also available on the Essex Highways website at: www.essexhighways.org/public-path-notices and has also been sent to Brentwood Borough Council.
The alternative route comes into force on 13/10/2026 and the old route will be stopped up with effect from 20/10/2026, but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 24/09/2026, make an application to the High Court.
(Alexander Lane, Shenfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Alexander Lane, Shenfield in the Borough of Brentwood, from a point approximately 35m north of its junction with Shenfield Gardens for a distance of approximately 170m in a north easterly then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th October 2026 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP40021228475 – GTM Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Bellmouth reconstruction and associated works are undertaken by GTM Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Alexander Lane, Rayleigh Road, Hutton Road, Chelmsford Road and vice versa (with access only into Alexander Lane and Oliver Road).
The Order will come into effect on 30th September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Essex Way, Great Warley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Essex Way, Great Warley in the Borough of Brentwood from its junction with The Drive to its junction with Eagle Way a distance of approximately 400m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th October 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2404092 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Eagle Way, The Drive and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 30th September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Coptfold Road, Brentwood) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Coptfold Road, Brentwood in the Borough of Brentwood, from its junction with Library Hill to its junction with New Road a distance of approximately 15m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th October 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WH3W9G2D – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Coptfold Road, Crown Street, Queens Road, Alfred Road and vice versa (with no access into New Road).
The Order came into effect on 16th September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Beredens Lane, Great Warley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Beredens Lane, Great Warley in the Borough of Brentwood, from its junction with Warley Street for a distance of approximately 465m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th October 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC311001WH2NG90B – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct clearance works are undertaken by Openreach.
No alternative route is available.
The Order came into effect on 16th September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Various Roads, Borough of Brentwood) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) (SW1) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close those lengths of road in the Borough of Brentwood as specified in the schedule.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 16th September 2026 exact dates will be specified on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location, and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while micro ducting works are undertaken by Gigaclear.
