NOTICE OF MAKING OF AN ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 THE EAST SUSSEX

(Public Footpath Hellingly 73 (part))

PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

The above Order made on 11th September 2026, under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 53a(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The Order will divert part of public footpath Hellingly 73 from TQ 6003 1513 running in a generally north-north-easterly direction for 243 metres to TQ 6010 1535 (A-B on the order map), to a new route having a width of 4 metres and running from TQ 5997 1525 in a north-easterly direction for 176 metres to TQ 6010 1535 (C-B on the order map).

A copy of the Order and Order Map and an explanatory statement have been deposited and can be inspected free of charge Main Reception County Council County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes Mondays to Fridays between 9.00am and 4.00pm and at Wealden District Council’s Offices, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham, BN27 2AX during office opening times.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the East Sussex County Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.

The East Sussex (C270 Five Chimneys Lane, Hadlow Down)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Five Chimneys Lane – from the junction with C11 School Lane to the junction with A272 Curtains Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A272 Curtains Hill – C11 School Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 5 October 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 5 and 6 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026 No.2

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Rookery Lane – from the junction with U7278 Colliers Green to the junction with B2096 Earls Down.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2096 Earls Down, Carricks Hill, Battle Road, Woods Corner – C18 South Lane – C277 Bluekiln Road, Redpale, North Road – C16 White Horse Road, Bodle Street Road, Back Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 5 October 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 5 and 6 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Bicycle Arms Road – from the junction with U7570 Sheriffs Lane to the junction with A267 Argos Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2101 High Cross, Mayfield Road, South Street – B2100 High Street, Church Road, Rotherfield Road – C11 Western Road, Walshes Road, Fermor Road – C254 Hurtis Hill, Sheep Plain – A26 Beacon Road, Eridge Road – C70 Bunny Lane – A267 Frant Road, Frant Green Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 8 October 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 8 and 9 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026 No.2

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Norlington Lane – from the junction with U5661 Bishops Lane to the junction with U5660 Broyle Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5660 Broyle Lane – B2192 The Broyle, Lewes Road – U5661 Bishops Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 21 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 21 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Hoddern Avenue – from the junction with U5857 Phyllis Hodden Link Road to the junction with U5856 Arundel Road West.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5857 Phyllis Hodden Link Road, Phyllis Avenue – U5856 Arundel Road West and vice versa.

The Order commences 21 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 21 September and 16 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026 No.2

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Chiddingly Road – from the junction with C330 Pick Hill to the junction with A267 Horam Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C114 Chiddingly Road – C330 Pick Hill, Gun Hill, Thunders Hill, Nash Street – A22 The Dicker, Boship roundabout – A267 New North Street, North Street, Eastbourne Road, Horam Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 18 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 18 and 24 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026 No.2

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Churches Green Lane – from the junction with C16 White Horse Road to the junction with U7915 Grovelye Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7410 Churches Green Lane – U7915 Grovelye Lane – U7278 Padgham Lane, Colliers Green – C279 Rookery Lane – C16 Back Lane, Bodle Street Road, White Horse Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 23 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 23 and 24 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5996 Spatham Lane, Westmeston)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026 No.3

To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Spatham Lane – for 80 metres either side of the railway crossing.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5996 Spatham Lane – C71 Folders Lane East – B2112 Common Lane, North End, High Street – B2116 Lewes Road – U5996 Spatham Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 19 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on the following dates between 19 September 2026 and 22 February 2027 depending upon the weather conditions:

(Prohibition of Waiting and Prohibition of Driving) Traffic Regulation Order 2013

The following additional/amended fixture times below will have the above Order restrictions imposed on the roads as listed from 4 hours before the commencement of the event held at The American Express Community Stadium until up to 2 hours after the event has finished;
