Bankhead Drive, Edinburgh - Temporary Traffic Restrictions

(BANKHEAD AVENUE AREA) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026 - TEMP/26/139

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate the installation of new cycleways for the West Edinburgh Link project, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any part of the roads specified in Schedule 1; (b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait, or load onto or unload from any vehicle on any part of the road specified in Schedule 2; & (c) walk or cause or permit any person to walk on any part of the footways specified in Schedule 3. The road closures for Phases 1 to 4 shall not be enacted at the same time. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of road described in Schedule 2. The following Order “The City of Edinburgh Council (Bankhead Avenue) (Temporary Road Restriction and Traffic Regulation) Order 2026” under TEMP/26/110, is hereby revoked. The alternative routes for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closures in Schedule 1 will be by way of: (a) Phase 1 Bankhead Ave – (1) Bankhead Ave, Bankhead Cway Nth, Bankhead Bdway, Bankhead Dr, Calder Rd & Bankhead Ave (sth leg); or (2) Bankhead Ave, Bankhead Dr, Bankhead Bdwy, Bankhead Medway & Bankhead Ave (sth leg); (b) Phase 2 (i) Bankhead Medway – (1) Bankhead Ave (sth leg), Bankhead Cway Nth, Bankhead Bdway & Bankhead Medway; or (2) Bankhead Ave (sth leg), Bankhead Cway Sth, Bankhead Bdway & Bankhead Medway; (ii) bankhead Ter – (1) Bankhead Ave (sth leg), Bankhead Cway Nth, Bankhead Bdway & Bankhead Ter; (2) Bankhead Ave (sth leg), Bankhead Cway Nth, Bankhead Pl & Bankhead Ter; or (3); Bankhead Ave (sth leg), Bankhead Cway Sth, Bankhead Bdway & Bankhead Ter; (c) Phase 3 Bankhead Cway Sth – (1) Bankhead Ave (sth leg), Bankhead Medway, Bankhead Bdway & Bankhead Cway Sth; or (2) Bankhead Ave (sth leg), Bankhead Ln, Bankhead Pl & Bankhead Cway Sth; & (d) Phase 4 Bankhead Ln –Bankhead Ave (sth leg), Bankhead Cway Sth, Bankhead Pl & Bankhead Ln. The alternative route for through pedestrian traffic in relation to the footway closures of bankhead ave (sth leg), east side, is Bankhead Ave (sth leg), west side. The Order shall have effect from 18/09/26 to 18/06/27 for Schedules 1 and 2 and from 19/09/26 to 18/03/27 for Schedule 3. sChedule 1 road Closure Phase 1, bankhead ave, from 9m east of the extended east kerbline of Bankhead Ave (sth leg), eastwards for 72m; Phase 2, (i) bankhead medway, from the extended west kerbline of Bankhead Ave (sth leg), westwards for 10m; & (ii) bankhead Ter, from the extended west kerbline of Bankhead Ave (sth leg), westwards for 10m; Phase 3, bankhead Cway sth, from the extended west kerbline of Bankhead Ave (sth leg), westwards for 10m; & Phase 4, bankhead ln, from the extended west kerbline of Bankhead Ave (sth leg), westwards for 10m. sChedule 2 prohibiTion of WaiTing, loading and unloading bankhead ave (sth leg), both sides, in its entirety. sChedule 3 fooTWay Closures: bankhead ave (sth leg), east side, (i) from the extended south kerbline of Bankhead Cway Nth, southwards to the extended south kerbline of Bankhead Ter; and (ii) from the extended south kerbline of Bankhead Ter, southwards to the extended north kerbline of Bankhead Ln.
