Letchford Gardens - Prescribed Routes Experimental Order

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE HAMMERSMITH AND FULHAM (LETCHFORD GARDENS) (PRESCRIBED ROUTES) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2026

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham made the above-mentioned Order under the powers granted by sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order will come into force on 07th October 2026 and may continue in force for up to 18 months.

2. The general effect of the above-mentioned Order will be to prohibit any motor vehicle to proceed in a northerly direction past a point in Letchford Gardens, outside No. 35 Letchford Gardens.

3. The controls specified in article 2 would not apply in respect of a vehicle -
(a) with a valid permit;
(b) being a bus, local bus, taxi and pedal cycle;
(c) in the pursuance of any statutory duty of the Post Office for the purpose of collecting or delivering letters provided the vehicle bears the Royal Mail livery;
(d) being used in connection with building operations or demolition works in or adjacent to Letchford Gardens;
(e) being used in connection with the maintenance, improvement, reconstruction, cleansing or lighting of a road;
(f) being used in connection with the laying, erection, alteration or repair in or near Letchford Gardens of any sewer or of any main, pipe or apparatus for the supply of gas, water or electricity, or of any telecommunicationsapparatus as defined in paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 2 of the Telecommunications Act 1984; (g) if it is being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes.

4. For a period of 6 weeks from the day on which the Order is made, a copy of the Order and a copy of the Councils statement of reasons for making the Order and documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order can be inspected during normal office hours by contacting Parking Services, The Place Department, Town Hall, King Street, Hammersmith, W6 9JU or by requesting a copy via email to Traffic.Orders@lbhf.gov.uk

5. The Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of permanent Order made under sections 6, 45 and 46 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Order within a period of six months beginning with the date on which the experimental Order come into force or, if the Order is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the date on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification comes into force. Any such objection must be made in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent to Parking Services, The Place Department, Town Hall, King Street, Hammersmith, W6 9JU or via email to Traffic.Orders@lbhf.gov.uk.

6. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of the provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
