Hertfordshire - Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Traffic Restrictions Due To Various Works

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(Temporary Closing And Waiting Restrictions On Various Roads In Codicote, Hatfield And Welwyn) Order 2026

NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1. that length of Green Lane, Codicote from its junction with Kimpton Road north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Whitwell Road, a distance of approximately 817m.
An alternative route will be via: Kimpton Road, Heath Lane, The Grove and Whitwell Road.

2. that length of B653 Brocket Road, Hatfield from its junction with Lemsford Village south eastwards to the B653 Stanborough Road/B197 Great North Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 1233m.
An alternative route will be via: B653 (Marford Road/Cory Wright Way/Codicote Road), B651 (Station Road/High Street/The Hill/Wheathampstead Road/High Street/St Albans Road/Sandridge Road/Stonecross), A1081 St Peters Street, A1057 (Hatfield Road/St Albans Road West), A1001 Comet Way, A6129 Stanborough Road and B653 Stanborough Road.

3. that length of B197 (Digswell Hill/Welwyn Bypass Road), Welwyn from its junction with Ayot Green Lane north eastwards to the A1000 Welwyn Bypass Road/Maran Avenue roundabout, a distance of approximately 331m.
An alternative route will be via: B197 Great North Road, B195 (Valley Road/Bridge Road/The Campus roundabout/The Campus/Bridge Road), A1000 (Bessemer Road/Mundells/Bessemer/Hertford Road/Welwyn Bypass Road) and B197 Welwyn Bypass Road.
or via: B197 Welwyn Bypass Road, A1000 (Welwyn Bypass Road/Hertford Road/Mundells/Bessemer Road), B195 (Bridge Road/The Campus roundabout/Bridge Road/Valley Road) and B197 Great North Road.

4. that length of Cromer Hyde Lane, Hatfield from its junction with B653 Marford Road southwest and northwest for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect on 12 October 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Traffic Management Measures On B156 Northaw Road West, Northaw And The Footway Situated On The North Side Of B156 Northaw Road West, Northaw) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following length of road ("the Road") and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress:-
a) that length of B156 Northaw Road West, Northaw from its easternmost junction with Vineyards Road south eastwards to its junction with Cattlegate Road, a distance of approximately 2040m.
An alternative route will be via: B156 (Northaw Road West/Judges Hill/Coopers Lane/The Causeway), A1000 (Hatfield Road/Great North Road), B157 (Shepherds Way/The Ridgeway/East Ridgeway/Plough Hill) and B156 Northaw Road East.

2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the footway situated on the north side of B156 Northaw Road West, Northaw from its easternmost junction with Vineyards Road south eastwards to its junction with Cattlegate Road, a distance of approximately 2040m ("the Footway").
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road and Footway.

The Order will come into effect on 12 October 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 14 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road and Footway.

(Temporary Closing Of Mimms Lane, Ridge) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Mimms Lane, Ridge from its junction with Packhorse Lane south eastwards to the access road leading to "St Catherine Farm", a distance of approximately 854m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Mimms Lane, Deeves Hall Lane, Crossoaks Lane, Summerswood Lane, Buckettsland Lane, Well End Road, Silver Hill, London Road, B5378 London Road, Harris Lane and Mimms Lane.

The Order is needed because tree cutting and utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 13 October 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Harmer Green Lane, Welwyn) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Harmer Green Lane, Welwyn from the access road leading to ‘Copperkins Lodge’ north eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Harmer Green Lane, Adele Avenue, New Road and Harmer Green Lane.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing electrical box is proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 12 October 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Pottersheath Road, Welwyn/Pottersheath from its junction with Welwyn Public Footpath No.013 south westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Pottersheath Road, Spinney Lane, Wych Elm Lane, Bridge Road, B197 London Road, Heath Road, Canonsfield Road and Pottersheath Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 28 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Mountway, Potters Bar) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Mountway, Potters Bar from its junction with Manor Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m ("the Road").
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because electrical works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 28 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Tolmers Avenue, Cuffley) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Tolmers Avenue, Cuffley from its junction with Hill Rise north eastwards to its junction with Orchard Close, a distance of approximately 180m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: Hill Rise, Tolmers Road and Tolmers Avenue.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 28 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 4 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

The Hertfordshire (The Commons, Welwyn Garden City) - (Restriction Of Waiting) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that the HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce new waiting restrictions in part of The Commons, Welwyn Garden City as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.
