Oxfordshire - Multiple Temporary Closures Due to Various Works

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(CARTERTON) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20**

NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order – to help improve road safety on local roads – is to introduce a 20mph speed limit within Carterton, replacing the majority of the 30mph speed limit in the town in the process.

Following a review by Officers, 30mph speed limits will remain in place on the following:

1. Numbered roads:

• B4020 Burford Road (excepting a section by Carterton Primary School), B4020 Shilton Road, B4477 Monahan Way, B4477 Upavon Way (excepting a section by the Carterton Community College).

2. Unnumbered roads:

• Alvescot Road; Black Bourton Road, Burford Road south of its junction with Arkell Avenue; Brize Norton Road, Broadshires Way, Carterton Road, Duxford Close, Shilton Road, and Stanmore Crescent

* These proposals supersede those in August/September 2025, and are as a result of the decision made at the Cabinet Member for Transport decisions meeting in July 2026 – at which the decision was deferred to allow for further public consultation on amended proposals.

The Oxfordshire County Council (Carterton) (Speed Limits) Order 2022 will be revoked/replaced as necessary.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the end of 23 October 2026. (WEST OXFORDSHIRE – VARIOUS ROADS) (MAP BASED)

(TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (VARIATION NO.*) ORDER 20**

NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order – which is being put forward for road safety reasons – is to introduce a One-Way restriction on Spring Meadow, in Witney as follows:

• Traffic to travel southwards (clockwise) only from its junction with the link road between Curbridge Road & Spring Meadow.

* This will be further supported by a ‘No Entry’ restriction, preventing traffic from travelling northwards (anti-clockwise) from its junction with the link road between Curbridge Road & Spring Meadow.

The Oxfordshire County Council (West Oxfordshire – Various Roads) (Map Based) (Traffic Management) Order 2026 will be further amended, updating Map Tile: EM31 in the process.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

Notice of Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic

North Leigh, East End Road

Date of Order: 21 September 2026

Coming into force: 28 September 2026

This Order is being introduced because of rising water main replacement works which are anticipated to take until 23 October 2026 to be completed. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of East End road northwards from its junction with Boddington Lane to East End. Exemptions are included for emergency vehicles, the Works and for access to property. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when and where the measures are in force. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. Nature of Restriction: Public Right of Way Closure

Location: Public Bridleway 340/4/20, Carterton, Oxfordshire.

From the junction with Swinbrook Road to the B4020.

Description of Works: Resurfacing works being carried out by Oxfordshire County Council.

The anticipated completion date is 28/03/2027 23:59 (inclusive)

(Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders have a maximum duration of 18 months, or 6 months for footpaths, bridleways, cycle tracks and byways that are open to all traffic).

Notice is hereby given that Oxfordshire County Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, intends to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order as detailed below:

Nature of Restriction: Road Closure

Location: Green Lane, North Leigh, Oxfordshire

(carriageway, verge, full road extend including verge).

Description of Works: Works to lay new rising main sewer on Green lane being carried out by JN Bentley.

The anticipated completion date is 04/12/2026 (inclusive)

(Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders have a maximum duration of 18 months for roads, or 6 months for other public rights of way).

Access: Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for properties within the closed section of road where reasonably practicable.

Suggested Alternative Route: No diversion dead end road.
