HEYGATE STREET IMPROVEMENTS
The London Borough of Southwark (Loading Places and Waiting restrictions) (Heygate Street improvements) Order 2026
1. Southwark Council hereby GIVES NOTICE that on 24 September 2026 it has made the above Order under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
2. The effects of the Order, are in HEYGATE STREET as part of the redevelopment of the site at Plot H11B Elephant Park, to:-
(a) introduce a new inset loading bay (21 metres in length) on the north-western side of Heygate Street opposite No. 6 Heygate Street that would operate Mondays-Saturdays between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm (maximum stay 20 minutes and no return within 1 hour); and
(b) amend existing ‘at any time’ waiting restrictions (double yellow lines) on both sides of Heygate Street to accommodate the new inset loading bay, reconfigured kerb-lines over former junction with Hewson Way, and a new raised zebra pedestrian crossing in this area.
Notes: (1) ‘at any time’ means at all hours on every day of the week. (2) All measurements are in metres and are approximate.

Copies of the Order, which come into force on 28 September 2026, and of all other relevant documents are available for inspection at Highways, Southwark Council, Environment, Sustainability & Leisure, 3rd floor hub 2, 160 Tooley Street, London SE1 2QH, by appointment only. 4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
