STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
The Oxfordshire County Council Steeple Barton Footpath No. 8 (part) & Footpath No. 19 ( part),
Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification (No.2) Order 2026
On 7 September 2026, the Oxfordshire County Council confirmed the above Order under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by diverting, as shown on the Order map: -
– Steeple Barton FP8 running from OS Grid Ref SP 4502 2590 east-south-eastwards for 220m to SP 4522 2584 and north-eastwards for 80m to BR9 at SP 4530 2585 to a new line running from OS Grid Ref SP 4502 2590 north-eastwards for 315m to BR9 at SP 4533 2597;
– Steeple Barton FP19 running from BR9 at OS Grid Ref SP 4530 2585 north-eastwards for 241m to SP 4554 2591 to a new line running from BR9 at OS Grid Ref SP 4533 2597 east-south-eastwards for 200m to SP 4551 2589, north-north-eastwards for 27m to SP 4552 2591, and east-south-eastwards for 18m to SP 4554 2591.

The Order came into force on the date of confirmation but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (the Act), as amended, and/or the powers of section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA) or on the ground that any requirement of either Act or of any regulation made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act and as applied by s53A(7) WCA, within six weeks from 17 September 2026 make an application to the High Court.
