Southend-on-Sea - Temporary Traffic Restrictions due to Road Maintenance Works

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING AND TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION (TT026-27-50) ORDER 2026
(SOUTHEND ARTERIAL ROAD (A127), OAKWOOD AVENUE)
Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council intends, no less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding, stopping, waiting, loading, unloading at the junction of Oakwood Avenue and Southend Arterial Road (A127).
The Order will also provide for the closure of the nearside westbound lane on Southend Arterial Road (A127) for the duration of the works.
The Order will further prohibit any person from driving a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour on Southend Arterial Road (A127) from the junction of Shirley Road to the junction of Abbots Close.
The Order will come into effect from 7.00pm to 6.00am each night from 30 September 2026 to 1 October 2026 inclusive; however, this Order may continue in force for a maximum of 12 months to allow for remedial work or delays.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst road maintenance work is carried out.
The alternative routes are via: Briarwood Drive, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa.
Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.
The prohibitions or restrictions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the TRAFFIC SIGNS REGULATIONS AND GENERAL DIRECTIONS 2016.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
