What is happening?
ABANDONMENT – BALLYMACARRETT
WALKWAY, BELFAST
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI), being of the opinion that the road is not necessary for
road traffic, gives notice of its intention to make an Order under Article 68 of the Roads
(Northern Ireland) Order 1993, the effect of which would be to abandon an area comprising of
2391.673 square metres of pathways within Ballymacarrett Walkway between Severn Street
and Tamar Street, Belfast.
The area of road to be abandoned is delineated on a map which, together with a copy of
the draft Order, may be inspected free of charge during office hours within the period
16 September 2026 to 26 October 2026 at DfI TRAM Eastern Division, Lands Section,
Hydebank House, 4a Hospital Road, Ballydollaghan, Belfast, BT8 8JL or viewed online at
www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/consultations
Inspection of the draft Order and map is by appointment only which can be arranged either by
email using the email address below, or by telephone on 0300 200 7899 during office hours
(Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.).
Any person may, within the period above, object to the proposal by writing to the Department
at the address above or by emailing

stating the
grounds of the objection. The information you provide in your response to this consultation,
