Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,
makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
B2068 Nackington Road, Lower Hardres, CT4 7AA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow expansion joint replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2068 Nackington Road, Lower Hardres from 12th October 2026 with estimated completion by 31st October 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 only, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junction with Merton Lane, south of the bridge and the entrance to Winters Barns, north of the bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any northbound traffic is via Bridge Road, Station Road, Dover Road, A2050 Roman Road, New Dover Road, Old Dover Road and B2068 Nackington Road.
The alternative route for any southbound traffic is via B2068 Nackington Road, Old Dover Road, New Dover Road, A2050 Roman Road, A2, Bifrons Hill, Town Hill and Station Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Baddlesmere Road, Whitstable, CT5 2JG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Baddlesmere Road, Whitstable in phases, from 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 22nd November 2026, or until the works have been completed.
Baddlesmere Road will be closed in its entirety, in phases, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site. Each phase will be closed and completed for no more than 100m in length at a time.
The alternative route for traffic during phases 1-4 is via Queens Road, St Annes Road, Northwood Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for traffic during phases 5-8 is via Northwood Road, St Anne’s Road, B2205 Tankerton Circus, Tankerton Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works via an alternative footway.
Carter Road, Bekesbourne (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Carter Road, Bekesbourne from 12th October 2026 with estimated completion by 13th October 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed approximately 280m south of the junction with Chalkpit Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Carter Road, Adisham Road, Bramling Road, Shepherd’s Cross Road, Carter Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Cromwell Road, Whitstable, CT5 1HQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow the surface water separation project to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Cromwell Road, Whitstable from 12th October 2026, with estimated completion by 23rd October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic northbound is via Cromwell Road, B2205 Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street and Harbour Street.
The alternative route for any through traffic southbound is via B2205 Harbour Street, High Street, Oxford Street and Cromwell Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Ford Road, Herne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ford Road, Herne from 29th September 2026, with estimated completion by 1st October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the Landfill Site, Broomfield Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ford Road, Broomfield Road, Margate Road, Ford Hill, Ford Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet, CT3 4DQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet from 23:30 hours on 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 29th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route any through traffic (excluding vehicles over 7.5 tonne) is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, Stourmouth Road, Preston Road, The Street, Plucks Gutter, Gore Street, A253 Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Grove Ferry Hill and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonne is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 Goberry Hill, Roman Road, Pedding Hill, Ash Bypass, Sandwich Road, Each End, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road and A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Island Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1DZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Island Wall, Whitstable from 14th October 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for 335m to the junction with Collingwood Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Kenfield Road, Petham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow apparatus repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kenfield Road, Petham from 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 2nd October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Swarling Manor, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Kenfield Road, Chartham Downs Road, Garlinge Green Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Marley Lane, Kingston, CT4 6FG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow cover and frame works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Marley Lane, Kingston from 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 30th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Marley House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Marley Lane, Westwood Road, Turks Hill, Marley Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Nunnery Fields, Canterbury, CT1 3JN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow structural repairs to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Nunnery Fields, Canterbury from 12th October 2026 with estimated completion by 14th October 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the rail bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2068 Old Dover Road, Ethelbert Road, South Canterbury Road, Nunnery Fields and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Out Elmstead Lane, Barham, CT4 6PG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow new gas connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Out Elmstead Lane, Barham from 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 5th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite The Annex at Sunny Downs, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any southwest bound through traffic is via Out Elmstead Lane, A2 from J A260 To J A2050 Patrixbourne, A2 Dover Road, Bonnybush Slip Westbound Off, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane and Valley Road.
The alternative route for any northeast bound through traffic is via Out Elmstead Lane, Valley Road, Derringstone Hill, Mill Lane, Rabbit Hole, Church Lane, Gravel Castle Road, A2 J A260 Join Nw, Old Dover Road, A2 Through J A260 Nw and A2 From J A260 To J A2050 Patrixbourne Nw.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Underdown Road, Herne Bay, CT6 5SR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026
To allow surface water line installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Underdown Road, Herne Bay from 12th October 2026, with estimated completion by 6th November 2026 or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Victoria Park and Queen Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Victoria Park, South Road, Queens Gardens and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The One-Way Order on Underdown Road will be suspended between the junctions with Queens Gardens and Victoria park, to allow access.
